Nepal Red Cross Society manages CEHP (Community Empowerment for Health Promotion Program) in collaboration with Swiss Red Cross since 2001. The service of this program are implemented Mid-West Region (MWR) of Nepal. The core services of CEHP are Community Health and WASH, HIV prevention, sensitization of NCDs and strengthening capacity of Red Cross and community network. The program was mainly implemented in Jajarkot, Dang, Rukum, Rolpa and Dolpa districts in previous phase. The new phase-VII of the programme is being implemented from July 2018 to June 2021 with the continuation of two components-Health and WASH in Province 5 (Dang and Rolpa district) and Province Karnali (West Rukum and Kalikot district)

Minimum Requirements:            

Bachelor's Degree in Public Health with at least 2 years work experience in advocacy and knowledge management. Ability to maintain effective relationship with different stakeholders. Good knowledge on GESI and experience on GESI mainstreaming into the project activities. Need excellent communication skills and ability to write reports both in English and Nepali languages. Fluency in writing and spoken English is essential. Computer skills in Office Applications. Age bar is 21-35 yrs.

Contract period for the position is one year with possibility of extension.

Background Information

The Community Empowerment for Health Promotion Programme (CEHP) is implemented by the Nepal Red Cross Society (NRCS) with the support of Swiss Red Cross (SRC). The current phase of the program is being implemented from July 2018 to June 2021, has two components- Health and WASH. The employee will take significant role on facilitating for productive collaboration among the program, Palika and relevant stakeholders with the major tasks listed below.

The employee is expected to work with the highest degree of moral behavior and conduct adhering to the Red Cross Movement Code of Conduct and seven principles. The code of conduct is integral part of the working contract.

Major duties and responsibilities

Under the direct supervision of the Deputy Programme Director, the employee should support for developing and implementing CEHP’s advocacy strategies and activities in relation to Community health and WASH. Detailed scope of work includes:

  • Assist project team in the planning and implementation of programs with ensuring a strong GESI-sensitive approach which is integrated into all assessments, activities and outcomes
  • Develop and lead advocacy strategy and activities for women and girl’s empowerment, men and boy’s engagement
  • Review of effectiveness of selected advocacy strategies and activities
  • Ensure GESI mainstreaming in all project’s activities campaign.
  • Develop relevant IEC materials to address gender and social inequality issues
  • Produce needful materials for advocacy purpose
  • Support management team to enhance the capacity of the project staffs on policies, practices related to GESI including creating learning platform about GESI to ensure its implementation in the project activities. 
  • Work closely with partner organizations to develop coordinated advocacy and public campaigns on project's priority themes
  • Monitor and analyze the national policy documents regarding community health and WASH, critical analysis the gaps within the policy making and implementation
  • Prepare GESI related success case studies of the projects 
  • Disseminate the best approaches/practices adhered by the organization
  • Assist project management in knowledge management relating to overall project activities in Health and WASH
  • Support to fulfill other assignments given by NRCS CEHP for the effective implementation of the program.
