Terms of Reference (ToR) For Developing a Musical Item on Ending Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Against Women and Girls with Disabilities

Nepal Disabled Women Association

Nepal Disabled Women Association (NDWA) was established in 2054 (1998) adopting the values of the fundamental rights and responsibilities provided by the constitution of Nepal. It aims to support Women with Disabilities (WWDs) to pursue their rights, and provide them protection and livelihood support. Unless WWDs from all sections of the Nepalese community understand and exercise their human rights, particularly as ensured by the UN Convention on Rights of Persons with Disabilities, their lives will not be bright and prosperous. Therefore, NDWA promotes programs to build the capacity of the WWDs living in both urban and remote areas of the country, enabling them to become capable, empowered, and proactive in exercising their rights. It is also vital to empower women from other disadvantaged communities, such as women with disabilities from Dalit and Madhesi community, to build their self- esteem and confidence. In this context, NDWA plays an important role to advocate on the issues of WWDs, including rights to education, health, employment, rehabilitation and social security.

For Developing a Musical Item on Ending Gender-Based Violence (GBV)

Against Women and Girls with Disabilities

“Action for Justice”

Background

Nepal Disabled Women Association (NDWA), through the Action for Justice Project, works to advance social justice by eliminating sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) against women and girls with disabilities. The project aims to strengthen prevention, protection, and response mechanisms by building capacity among justice actors, service providers, and communities.

Despite progress in awareness and advocacy, women and girls with disabilities continue to face heightened risks of violence and discrimination. Cultural stigma, dependency, communication barriers, and lack of access to information further silence their voices and limit access to justice.

In this context, NDWA seeks to develop an inclusive musical item (song) that will inspire collective action to end GBV, promote equality and respect, and highlight the rights and dignity of women and girls with disabilities. The song will serve as a creative tool for awareness campaigns, community outreach, and social media advocacy.
