Consultant/Trainer/Facilitator to facilitate workshop and prepare guideline on gender equality and inclusion for gender focal teachers (2 days) for the Securing the Access for Education (SAFE) Project

This consultancy service is to facilitate two days training to the gender focal teachers of project schools from Benighat Rorang Rural Municipality, Dhading, Nepal

1. Introduction:

Prayatnashil Community Development Society (PRAYAS Nepal), Dhading is a non-governmental organization dedicated towards quality education, livelihood, good governance, inclusive and well-being of Nepalese people. PRAYAS Nepal focuses on children, women, marginalized and rural communities by setting holistic development goals in creating transformed and interdependent society. PRAYAS Nepal envisions a new Nepal by positive transformation of socio-economic aspect of society and individual through capacity enhancement and optimum utilization of local resources.  PRAYAS Nepal has been working with government & non- government partners since its establishment.

2. Context:

PRAYAS Nepal, with technical and financial support from ChildFund Japan, in close collaboration with Benighat Rorang Rural Municipality is implementing the Securing Access for Education (SAFE) project in Wards no. 6, 8, and 10 of Benighat Rorang Rural Municipality of Dhading. The project aims to enhance access to safe, inclusive, and quality education for all children, with a focus on marginalized and vulnerable groups.

To achieve the child friendly learning environment for children at all school's outcome and promote participatory and inclusive teaching learning at schools, the workshop will review the gender policy of PRAYAS Nepal and on the basis of this the guideline will be developed for teachers which helps to raise issues on gender and inclusion at school premises.  The workshop will also support the development of a practical guideline to help teachers integrate GESI approaches in school environments.

Objectives of the workshop:

The main objectives of the workshop are:

  • To design and facilitate a 2-day workshop on GESI for GESI Focal Teachers.
  • To develop a contextual and practical GESI Guideline tailored to school settings in Benighat Rorang Rural Municiipality, Dhading

3. Scope of the consultancy services are:

The assignment is assumed to be carried out based on the following terms.

  • Prepare training content consulting with PRAYAS-Nepal SAFE Project team.
  • Prepare two days training contents and facilitation schedule.
  • Develop training materials and take responsibility for handling the entire training sessions.
  • Deliver training and workshop focusing on GESI principles and concepts, gender-responsive teaching and learning practices, identification of exclusionary practices in schools and strategies for inclusion, role of gender focal teachers in promoting safe and inclusive learning environments.
  • Deliver training in by applying interactive methods (e.g., group work, case studies, role plays).
  • Pre and post evaluation of the training.
  • Prepare and submit a draft GESI guideline based on workshop outcomes and national standards.
  • Finalize the guideline incorporating feedback from stakeholders.
  • Submission of the brief workshop report in English Language including key findings, participants' feedback, and recommendations to PRAYAS-Nepal.

4. Methodology (proposed):

To increase the effectiveness of the training, the consultant is expected to use following methodologies 

  • Plenary presentation and demonstration
  • Group and games exercise
  • Group interactions
  • Learning and experience exchange 
  • Role play and rhymes, etc.

5. Role and Responsibility of the Facilitator and PRAYAS Nepal:

Facilitator:

  1. Hold a preparatory discussion with the PRAYAS Nepal team to discuss on training content.
  2. Submit two days training/workshop content schedule with proposal and final copy should be submitted to PRAYAS-Nepal, Dhading in English version with the training proposal.
  3. Submit or upload in given folder all training content related handouts and other resource materials to the PRAYAS-Nepal, Dhading for book binding purpose before 3 days.
  4. Facilitator should follow the specific objective of training/workshop in designing content and delivery of training/workshop. 
  5. Facilitator should follow specified training content, guideline of GESI policies, feedback form PRAYAS-Nepal, Dhading and other relevant materials and format.
  6. Deliver the training/workshop based on the agreed training design with an output of developing a contextual and practical GESI Guideline in Nepali language as of level of participants-.
  7. Provide resource materials produced by the government and other sources on GESI related activities to the participants.
  8. Provide training/workshop completion report in English and handover all soft and hard copy of training materials to PRAYAS-Nepal, Dhading Office within one-week after completion of training along with invoice.
  9. The completion report has to be produced including results and analysis of pre/ posttest, training designs and all materials used in the training. (Should be submitted in both hard and softcopy)
  10. Submit payment request along with invoice and above bullet No. (8) and (9)

PRAYAS-Nepal, Dhading: 

  • Coordination and collaboration with local government and schools (focal teachers) to invite participants. 
  • Logistic arrangement of training (venue/hall, accommodation, equipment, stationery, training materials, food during training),
  • Organizing reflection and review meetings with the consultant each day after training
  • Provide remuneration and travel cost to the consultant/trainer/facilitator as per number 13. Terms of Payment

6. Training Evaluation:

  • Pre and post test
  • Feedback sheet

7. Applications will only be considered if they include all the following required documents (CVs alone are not acceptable):

  • Submit interest of letter with short proposal (background, proposal of training, tentative content, methodology, proposed budget, training schedule, required training materials) including a profile for the consultancy firms and CV of trainer 
  • Financial proposal includes trainer/facilitator cost for 2 days, preparation and report cost, travel cost, and other costs if any. The amount should be inclusive of VAT.
  • Credentials/Academic Certificates of consultant/trainer/facilitator
  • Copy of updated VAT/PAN registration certificate.
  • Latest Tax clearance certificate. 
  • Copy of business registration certificate and renewal for current fiscal year, if applicable 
  • Evidence of similar work completed.

8. Essential skills and qualifications of the Trainer:

  • Master’s degree in Gender Studies, Education, Development Studies, or a relevant field
  • At least 5 years of proven experience in training facilitation, particularly in GESI and education.
  • Proven experience in training design, facilitation and training delivery preferably working with School Management, School teachers and Parents,
  • Effective training/orientation facilitation, presentation skill and knowledge on different training methodologies.
  • Sound knowledge of Nepal’s education and gender inclusion policies.
  • Good analytical, judgment and problem-solving skills during training/workshop. 
  • Coaching skills considering the level of participant's competency.
  • Good team player as training facilitator.
  • Report writing skills in both English and Nepali.
  • Sound understanding of cultural differences and respect diversity.

The Consultant/Trainer/Facilitator will be required to have evidence documents to demonstrate technical competencies in relation to the topics required by the project. 

9. Facilitator/Trainer Service Schedule and Timeline:

Detailed action plan of consultancy service to deliver or facilitate workshop and prepare guideline on gender equality and inclusion for gender focal teachers (2 days) will be defined after selection of Trainer/facilitator. Below is a provisional plan, which will be adjusted with mutual understanding between the trainer/facilitator and PRAYAS Nepal:

11. Application Submission Process:

  • PRAYAS Nepal is inviting applications from qualified companies/firms, motivated candidates who are interested to submit a cover letter, their company profile with updated CVs of trainer/facilitator, financial proposal, PAN/VAT registration, academic qualifications and a copy of national ID card or passport, all that should be addressed to email account of PRAYAS Nepal procurement.prayasnepal@gmail.com no later than 5 PM 18th July 2025.
  • Only short-listed consultants will be contacted for an interview. All rights are reserved with PRAYAS Nepal either to approve or disapprove any application without giving any reasons whatsoever. If needed, the consultant will be asked for modifications and presentations of the application/proposal before approval.

13. Terms of Payment:

The remuneration of the trainer/facilitator will be as per the organization policies and with final negotiations between two parties and the payment is made once the training/workshop completion report is submitted to PRAYAS Nepal. PRAYAS Nepal will make payment of the contract amount in cheque to the consultancy firm or individual trainer/facilitator within one week after the completion of assignment and submission of payment request letter, invoice, and complete set of training report from the trainer/facilitator. The applicable taxes will be deducted at source according to tax policy of government of Nepal. The trainer can receive the tax deposit slip from PRAYAS-Nepal. Also, the trainer should submit to us the receipt confirmation of the cheque amount.
