Teresa Academy, run by Maiti Nepal, is seeking a dynamic, visionary, and experienced educational leader for the position of Principal. The ideal candidate should be passionate about providing quality, child-friendly, and inclusive education to vulnerable children, with a strong commitment to academic excellence, holistic development, and child safeguarding.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide overall academic and administrative leadership to the school.
- Lead school transformation initiatives to elevate academic standards, teaching quality, and overall institutional excellence.
- Provide strategic guidance in curriculum implementation, pedagogical innovation, and school improvement programs.
- Ensure effective implementation of the national curriculum with a strong focus on child-centered and activity-based learning.
- Maintain close coordination and collaboration with the Education Program Coordinator in planning, implementing, and monitoring academic programs, teacher training, and school improvement initiatives.
- Lead and mentor teachers in lesson planning, pedagogy, assessment, and professional development.
- Oversee the integration of modern teaching tools such as Smartboard, digital resources, and project-based learning.
- Strengthen Listening, Speaking, Reading Writing (LSRW) skills, reading culture, writing
- workshops, and co-curricular activities across all levels.
- Promote and strictly uphold Child Rights, Protection, and Safeguarding Policies, ensuring a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment for all students, particularly vulnerable and at-risk children.
- Monitor and improve student learning outcomes, attendance, and holistic development.
- Manage school operations including staff supervision, timetable management, parent communication, and stakeholder coordination.
- Prepare and implement school development plans, annual academic calendars, and progress reports.
- Develop and implement a school-based curriculum aligned with the national curriculum.
- Plan and organize day celebrations in accordance with curriculum requirements.
- Represent the school in external forums and maintain strong coordination with Maiti Nepal’s leadership.
- Integrate technological interventions, logical use of AI in teaching and learning processes.
- Evaluate teachers using fair and objective performance indicators and provide targeted support in areas for improvement.
- Identify and guide students based on their unique set of aptitudes and circumstances
Qualifications and Requirements
- Master’s Degree in Education, Educational Leadership, Progressive Education, Curriculum Development, Science Technology STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) Education, Child Development or a related field.
- Advanced coursework in school administration, pedagogy reform, or educational psychology is an asset.
- Minimum 5–7 years of teaching experience at the secondary level and at least 2–3 years in a leadership position (Vice Principal, Coordinator, or Principal).
- Candidates with long term commitment shall be preferred
- Strong knowledge of Nepal’s national curriculum, child-centered pedagogy, and current educational trends.
- Excellent command of English and Nepali (spoken and written).
- Demonstrated leadership, team management, and problem-solving skills.
- Proven experience in academic planning, teacher mentoring, and institutional development.
- Strong commitment to child rights, child protection, and safeguarding, with a sensitive approach suitable for working with vulnerable children.
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with digital education tools.
Preferred Skills
- Experience working with vulnerable and marginalized children.
- Knowledge of Smartboard technology and modern educational resources.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with parents, staff, and donors.
- Previous experience in English-medium schools.
- Proficiency in Google Workspace (G Suite), Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft PowerPoint.
