Human Practice Foundation (HPF), a Danish non-governmental organization, has been working in Nepal since 2017 and Kenya since 2018 to improve the quality of education through its Child Empowerment Model, including school infrastructure development, learning improvement, and economic empowerment initiatives.
HPF is currently seeking competent, experienced, committed, and dynamic Nepalese candidates for the position of Infrastructure Development Officer to supervise school building and toilet construction under its Infrastructure Development Program in Panchthar, Dhankuta, and Tehrathum districts. The position requires frequent field visits to rural municipalities.
1. Position: Infrastructure Development Officer – 1 Position
Duty Station: Project Office, Phidim, Panchthar, or any other duty station assigned by the organization
Reporting To:
- Technical: Program Director, Phidim, Panchthar Office.
Duration: One year, with the possibility of extension based on satisfactory performance, including an initial three-month probation period.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure the selected sites are appropriate as per the project requirements & as per the standard construction guidelines and have been agreed by relevant stakeholders.
- Conducting site assessment, preparing drawing/design (if required) and cost estimation with BOQ.
- Measure work progress, fill Measurement Bills (MB) as per actual work progress and report to Program Director.
- Ensure the standard and quality of construction materials for construction works.
- Provide technical support to strengthen capacity of mason team for quality implementation of construction work of the project through hands on coaching, and guidance.
- Monitor the progress against planned activities and results and corrective actions if required for achieving the target results.
- Maintain regular communication with relevant team members for quality and timely accomplishment of the work.
- Work closely with line agencies (Municipality/Rural Municipality) for quality implementation of construction works as per the agreed plan.
- Provide site reports, progress reports with evidence of progress and challenges.
- Assist Program Director to prepare and submit all scheduled and occasional reports on time as per need of organization including case studies etc.
- Carry out additional duties assigned under the guidance of the Program Director.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- Diploma in Civil Engineering with experience in building construction works and disaster resilient infrastructures
- At least 3 years of extensive technical experience in supervision of community buildings construction works like community buildings like health post, schools etc.
- Preparing estimate and BOQ, submit construction project progress report based on measurement bills (MB)
- Technical Knowledge to do construction activities field surveys, design, drawing & estimation.
- Proficiency on Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Ability to ensure specification of construction materials & ensuring the quality of construction works
- Ability to work independently under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated positive attitude, strong work ethic, and ability to work effectively in a team.
