Rural Health and Education Service Trust (RHEST) is a national non-governmental organization established in 1993. RHEST is committed to ending all forms of violence against women and girls, including human trafficking, gender-based violence, child marriage, and child labor, with a particular focus on marginalized communities.
Through its education and health programs, RHEST works to prevent human trafficking and gender-based violence among girls from vulnerable and marginalized groups. To date, RHEST has supported more than 28,000 students in over 18 districts of Nepal, providing access to education in rural communities.
The empowerment of women and girls, along with the promotion of reproductive health and mental wellbeing, remains a central pillar of RHEST's programs.
RHEST is looking for experienced candidate for the position Driver cum Messenger based in Kathmandu and frequent visit to RHEST working districts across Nepal.
Job Title: Driver Cum Messenger
Duty Location: Head Office, Bishalnagar, Kathmandu with frequent field visits to RHEST working districts across Nepal
Reports To: Sr. Operation Officer
Duration: 1 year with possibility of extension
Salary and benefits: As per the rules and regulations of the organization (Around monthly 37K in gross)
Job Responsibilities:
1. Driving and Delivery
- Drive organization vehicles safely, responsibly and efficiently for official purposes.
- Provide driving services to staff, visitors, consultants, and project materials to approved destinations.
- Deliver and collect official letters, documents, parcels, supplies, and other organizational materials as assigned.
- Support banking transactions, courier services, and official visits to government offices, vendors, partners, and other stakeholders.
- Provide transportation support during field visits, including the movement of project materials, equipment, and documents.
- Comply with all traffic laws, road safety regulations, and organizational vehicle management policies and procedures at all times.
2. Vehicle Care and Maintenance
- Conduct daily vehicle inspections before and after use.
- Keep vehicles clean, fueled, and in good working conditions.
- Monitor vehicle condition and promptly report mechanical issues, damage, accidents, or maintenance needs.
- Coordinate routine servicing, repairs, insurance renewals, and vehicle registration as instructed.
- Ensure all required vehicle documents are valid, up to date, and available in the vehicle.
- Follow organizational policies related to vehicle safety, security, and maintenance.
3. Record Keeping
- Maintain accurate vehicle logbooks and records of mileage, fuel consumption, and travel details.
- Keep records of vehicle servicing, repairs, insurance, registration, and other vehicle-related documents.
- Obtain and maintain receipts, acknowledgements, and supporting documents related to deliveries and official transactions.
- Submit vehicle and travel records to the supervisor as required.

- Ensure confidentiality and proper handling of organizational documents and information
4. Support to Office and Program Team
- Assist office staff with administrative and logistical tasks when required.
- Support meetings, workshops, training, and program events through transportation and logistics assistance.
- Assist transport project materials, equipment, and supplies to field locations.
- Support program and operations teams during material distributions and other field-based activities.
- Maintain professional and courteous relations with staff, partners, vendors, and visitors.
- Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor in support of office and program operations.
- Visit banks, vendors, government offices, and other service providers to deliver or collect documents, process payments, deposits, and other official transactions as assigned.
- Assist operation department in packaging and handling school materials for distribution.
- Strictly adhere to RHEST's Code of Conduct, organizational policies, and bylaws.
- Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor in support of office and program operations
Qualifications and Experience:
- Completion of SLC/SEE will be an added advantage.
- Valid driving license for both motorcycle and light vehicles.
- At least 3-5 years of relevant driving experience, preferably with NGOs, INGOs, development projects, or private sector organizations.
- Proven experience driving in diverse terrains, including highways, rural roads, off-road conditions, and mountainous/hilly regions of Nepal.
- Good knowledge of local routes, road safety practices, and basic vehicle maintenance.
- Experience in handling official documents, courier services, and providing basic administrative support will be an advantage.
- Previous work experience in remote and hard-to-reach project areas will be considered an asset.
