Opportunity Village Nepal (OVN) advocates for the rights of women and children and for their economic and social justice. The focus of its programs continues to been on abolition of child labor and child marriage, prevention of human trafficking, promotion of girl child education and empowerment of women through various innovative strategies working closely with the communities they live in. 

Under its Anti-human Trafficking Project and with particular focus on cross-border human trafficking, OVN invites applications for the following positions based in Kathmandu, Kaski and Rupandehi  from interested and eligible candidates and is seeking individuals with commitment for children and women, high drive for results, integrity, demonstrable teamwork, good self-awareness and self-regulation for its short term temporary safe and transit residential home:

Coordinator Cum Counselor

Kathmandu and Pokhara (one each and  full time residential staff)

Bachelors with minimum 1 years’ experience in counselling/social work with having a recognized certification in psycho-social counselling training OR +2 with higher academic course on psycho-social counselling with minimum 1 years’ experience in counselling/social work.

Minimum of two years direct experience of direct service provision with vulnerable and or exploited children youth, particularly those who have been victimized by commercial sexual exploitation.

Knowledge of child and youth participation methodologies and experience of coordinating youth activities. 

Experience of developing child protection systems, policies and child welfare policy, especially as they relate to staffing procedures and organizational safety.

Efficiency in using word, excel, PPT together with other MS packages and internet.

Fluency in written and spoken English and Nepali.

Experience providing written reports and documentation of project activities.

The Coordinator cum Counselor will assume responsibility for the safety and well-being of all of the children and youth participating as beneficiaries in the project and are under the care and protection of the organization and staying at the residential home.  This includes child and youth protection concerns, providing supportive counselling as needed, and assuring logistical arrangements are in order so as not to compromise any aspect of the project experience for children and youth involved.  The person will also be responsible for working with the core project team and technical staff and seek support from the line manager to execute the safe home activities including conducting in-house trainings and other creative activities.

The position holders initiates to create and provides safe child and youth and women friendly environment and functions also as facilitator, animator, care giver and guider as a protector and ensuring compliance with OVN rules and regulations. The post holder also builds harmonious and constructive relation between beneficiaries, their family and stakeholders and community people including women, children and youth by observing group dynamics and facilitate accordingly.

Care-giver cum Cook

Kathmandu and Pokhara (one each and  full time residential staff)

Literate (able to read and write in Nepali and English).

Proven experience as cook.

Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods (grilling, baking, boiling etc.)

Ability to follow all sanitation procedures.

Ability to work in a team.

Very good communication skills.

Excellent physical condition and stamina.

Attention to details.

Problem solving.

Ability to work autonomously.

Having knowledge of health and safety principles.

The cook will prepare meals and following the established recipes, will serve meals to all the residents of the shelter home. Duties include preparing ingredients, adhering to shelter menu and following food health and safety procedures. Cook, clean, assist other staff, and deliver food in a fast-paced environment.

Inspect and clean food preparation areas, such as equipment and work surfaces, or serving areas to ensure safe and sanitary food-handling practices and maintain all time that the food items are healthy and hygienic as per the standard and guidelines.

Ensure freshness of food and ingredients by checking for quality, keeping track of old and new items, and rotating stock.

Support staff Cum Security

Kathmandu and Pokhara (one each and  full time residential staff)

Literate (able to read and write in Nepali).

Proven working experience as a support staff looking after cleanliness and cleaning work.

Knowledge of cleaning.

Integrity.

Attention to details.

Problem solving.

Ability to work autonomously.

Having knowledge of health and safety principles.

Clean, stock and supply designated facility areas (dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, cleaning ceiling vents, restroom cleaning etc)

Perform and document routine inspection and maintenance activities

Notify supervisor of occurring deficiencies or needs for repairs

Make adjustments and minor repairs

Stock and maintain supply

Cooperate with the rest of the staff

Follow all health and safety regulations

Ensure safety and security of the residents of shelter home, staff, and the property around the facility of the shelter home.

Project Coordinator

Bhairahawa

Master Degree with minimum 1 year of experience or Bachelors/Graduate degree with 2 years’ minimum experience in field of social work with advocacy and training experience.

Minimum of two years direct experience of direct service provision with vulnerable and or women, children and youth, particularly those who have been victimized due to cross-border trafficking.

A good knowledge of protection, participation and safety.

Fluency in written and spoken English and Nepali.

Experience providing written reports and documentation of project activities.

Efficiency in using word, excel, PPT together with other MS packages and internet.

A team player and willing to travel as and when necessary.

The Project Coordinator will oversees the coordination and administration of all aspects of program including planning, budgeting, documenting, organizing, staffing, leading and monitoring of the project activities.

Smooth operation of project interventions in close coordination with government and non-government actors in the district.

Work as a focal person of the organization apart from the roles and responsibilities of the project.

Carry out activities as required for the project and the organization.

Social Workers (2 positions)

Bhairahawa

Bachelor degree in psychology, social work or related field.

Minimum of two years direct experience of direct service provision with vulnerable and or women, children and youth, particularly those who have been victimized due to cross cross-border trafficking.

Knowledge of crisis intervention.

Experience of working with advocacy networks, local partner organizations.

Efficiency in using word, excel, PPT together with other MS packages and internet.

Fluency in written and spoken English and Nepali.

Experience providing written reports and documentation of project activities.

Willing to travel as and when necessary.

 

Supports the project beneficiaries and their families to be safeguarded from all forms of violence and exploitation.

Works directly with individuals helping them to cope with their physical, mental, emotional, social and economic problems and conducts needs assessments and interviews. 

Makes referral as needed and obtains assistance for project beneficiaries.

Maintains record of cases and documentation and monitors planned actions with periodic follow-up.

Maintains confidentiality and protects operations by keeping information confidential.

Organize and lead community awareness campaigns in the project areas.

Facilitates physical, recreational, social and educational activities.

Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Psycho-social Counselor (female)

Bhairahawa

Finance and Admin. Officer

Bhairahawa

Minimum a bachelor's degree in Commerce or Business Studies.

Previous experience and good computer skills with ability to work with spread sheets, FAMAS accounting software packages with a sound knowledge of excel based analytical tools.

Must have excellent communication and writing skills, and at least two years of experience and progressively responsible in administrative and financial work experiences in project accounting.

Must have excellent written and spoken English/Nepali languages

Knowledge on taxation system of the Government.

Under the supervision and guidance of the Supervisor, the Finance and Admin Officer provides financial and administrative as well as procedural and operational support and assist for the efficient implementation of a broad range of financial and administrative functions for all categories of staff, ensuring accurate and timely delivery, whilst promoting a client-based, quality and results orientated approach to the organization and ensuring compliance with OVN rules and regulations.

 

Care-taker/ Warden (full time residential female staff for shelter home)

Bhairahawa

At least Intermediate in any field.

2 years working experience in similar field like shelter home.

Good in spoken and writing in English and Nepali

Efficiency in using word, excel, PPT together with other MS packages and internet.

Fluency in written and spoken English and Nepali.

Familiarity with administrative duties.

Manage the daily operations of the shelter facilities.

Motivate the beneficiaries of the shelter to involve in the activity and encourage them to take a leadership role.

Support with their rehabilitation and reintegration processes.

Keep records of each and every beneficiary.

 

Office Assistant (OA)

Bhairahawa

Minimum High School education (SLC/SEE) with two years of work experience in the administrative work. 

High energy level, comfortable performing official work in conjunction with day-to-day activities and ability to get along with diverse personalities, tactful, mature and flexible.

Good communication skills, resourceful and well organized.

The OA will responsible for day to day support of administrative work and develop routines to ensure all areas of the office are maintained to high standard of cleanliness, serve the refreshment to the staff and  support to line manager to run the smooth operations of financial and administrative work in the office.

Border Surveillance Assistant

Bhairahawa

+2 in any discipline.

Minimum of 1 year experience working in relevant position.

Excellent communication skills

Good organizational and observation as well as judgment skills.

An analytical mind and good problem solving skills.

A smart appearance and team worker.

Familiar with using computer and good fluency in written and spoken Nepali with basic skills of reading and writing English.

Design and implement measures to prevent cross-border trafficking and improve cross-border cooperation among relevant actors for rights based rehabilitation and reintegration of victims.

Establish/strengthen victim referral and protection mechanisms.

Responds in victim friendly procedures of interception along with best practices, in combating human trafficking across the border.

Coordinate and network/closely collaborate with peer partners, security forces, government and non-government actors and stakeholders and other local entities.

Maintaining record and documentation of cases including of personal belongings during and after cases of interception.

Security Guard (full time residential female staff for shelter home)

Literate and able to read and write in Nepali.

Minimum of 1 year experience as security guard.

Security guard training course certificate is an asset.

Alertness, honesty, physical fitness.

Good communication skills.

This position is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of the residents of shelter home, staff, and the property around the facility of the shelter home.

The security guard secures premises and personnel by patrolling property; monitoring surveillance equipment; inspecting buildings, equipment, and access points; permitting entry.

Cook (full time residential female staff for shelter home)

Literate (able to read and write in Nepali and English).
