Details / requirements:

Chemonics International, an implementing partner of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), seeks a Supply Chain Intern for the USAID Global Health Supply Chain-Procurement and Supply Management (GHSC-PSM) project in Nepal. GHSC-PSM is the primary vehicle through which USAID procures and furnishes health commodities, provides technical assistance to improve Nepal’s management of the supply chain, and collaborates with key international and local stakeholders to support U.S. government-funded public health initiatives in Nepal. 

The supply chain intern will be responsible for assisting the GHSC-PSM project in Nepal on Forecasting& Quantification, M&E, Warehousing and eLMIS reporting, which includes working with the LMIS Center at the Management Division for consumption reporting. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.

Responsibilities include:

  • Support Health Systems Strengthening (HSS) Team to improve health commodity distribution, warehousing, transportation and data reporting
  • Support in developing forecasting, quantification, pipeline reporting and other (PPMR) reporting
  • Assist the M&E team to analyze data for stockout, reporting rates, maintaining training database, etc. 
  • Regularly monitors the stock of family planning and maternal and child health commodities to ensure stocks are available
  • Assist in training of basic logistics, procurement and eLMIS
  • Reviews data entered (e.g., Consumption Reporting etc.) in eLMIS to ensure completeness and accuracy
  • Update list for municipalities and health facilities for revision and addition/deletion in eLMIS in coordination with Field Support Officers (FSOs) and subcontract or support team. Update eLMIS accordingly.

Supervision and Reporting 

The Supply Chain Intern will report to HSS Director.

Location of Assignment:

The position shall be based at Chemonics Office in Kathmandu and may need travel in country

Timeframe and Level of Effort:

This is a full-time local internship position that shall work during normal business hours. 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, procurement, MIS, logistics, or another related business discipline 
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures
  • Must be fluent to speak, read and understand English
  • Excellent attention to detail and communication skills
  • Advanced computer skills and skills in MS Word, Excel and Powerpoint
  • Must be able to complete essential functions of this job as outlined in the job description with reasonable accommodations
