Community Development Forum, Nepal established in 2005 is registered in District Administration Office, Dolakha and affiliated with Social Welfare Council with motive to support on social development. It is autonomous, non-profit making, politically nonpartisan and non-government organization.  It encourages community participation for protection; management and utilization of environment and natural resources by assuming sustainable development for basic need on self-dependence of rural people.  It is focused tocontribution on holistic development of country with enhanced awareness among people through agriculture, forest, environment, education, health, women empowerment, human resource development, social welfare activities.

Reports to: Project Coordinator (PC)

Location: Based in Field offices

Job Summary:

Under the overall guidance of the Executive Director and direct supervision of the Project Coordinator for the WASH Program, Nepal, the Social Mobilzer should  carry out  the overall responsibility of Social Mobilization Part of WASH programme of CDF -Nepal Working wards from Kalinchowk and Sailung  Rural Municipalities which  are identified as  having severe need of safe drinking water  since long.

The Social Mobilzer carries out tasks in accordance with the Project document, the policies and systems of CDF-Nepal and donor agencies. S/he shall follow the guidelines of the Project Coordinator of  “Water Security & Climate Resilience” and closely work with programme to fulfill the assigned responsibilities.

  • Work prioritization, the ability to multitask and willingness to go the extra mile to support what the job demands is a must. 
  • Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy confidentiality concerning with technical part of project. 
  • Good field level planning and coordination skills to ensure a wide variety of activities, often with an urgent nature, to be carried out in an efficient and economic manner. 
  • To communicate and orient the community about the objectives of project and organization.
  • To work of community mobilization under the  direct supervision of  program officers.
  • To manage the local level meeting, group discussion, orientation for the activities as per the project objective in coordination with supervisor. 
  • To mobilize the community of project area as guided by  Sub-Engineers.
  • To support to manage the all regular meeting, coordination meeting, training in filed level. 
  • To conduct orientation and training on RTWS, WSP, Community Score Cards, and other WASH related issues.
  • To   help facilitate and conduct public audit of WSS.
  • To coordinate the local stakeholders such as ward char person and members, ward secretariat, schools authorities, health post authorities, political parties and other WASH related organizations on the field. 
  • To collect and prepare the data as required for the project.
  • To support to identify the need of training and workshop and assist to program officers  to conduct them.
  • To submit the regular report on event, monthly, quarterly, trimester basis as per requirement to the supervisor. 
  • To perform the work as per rules and regulations of organization and he/she has to in contact with organization at any time.

Communication and Reporting lines: Social Mobilizer reports to PC through Program Officers and is expected to 

  • Provide overall support of social mobilization part of WASH program.
  • Report to PC on all issues related to progress and achievement at the field.

Professional skills and qualifications needed in the position

  • Intermediate or + 2 level or equivalent in any academic stream. 
  • Candidate with TSLC in Civil Engineering will be given priority.
  • Experience working in WASH sector with basic knowledge of rural water supply schemes along with knowledge of sanitation movement of Nepal with different type of institutional WASH facilities in rural context.
  • Tactfulness and excellent interpersonal skills 
  • Good communication skills both in English and Nepali
  • Ability and willingness to work in team and to work under pressure and in remote/difficult circumstances
