Details / requirements:

Forum for Community Upliftment System Nepal (FOCUS-Nepal) Dhading a NGO working in diversified field in Dhading, District. Currently, it is looking for the potential candidates for the Building Better Lives; Building Livelihood (BBL) project funding by NORLHA Helping People in the Himalaya. This position is based in Tipling VDC of Northern Dhading.

Position: Project Co-ordinator – 1

Contract Type: Fixed Term Contract

Contract Duration: 1.5 Years

Gross Salary per month: NRs. 50,000+

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Technically guide the project team on activity implementation as envisioned by the project design through elaboration of each activity in close coordination with R&R specialist NORLHA and other team members.
  • Good understanding of business opportunities/livelihood interventions in the post-disaster context.
  • Design and effectively execution of DRR activities, Facilitate Participatory Vulnerability and Capacity Assessments (PVCAs), facilitate to form local disaster risk management committee (LDRMC) at community and VDC level.
  • Facilitate to develop inclusive Risk Reduction Action Plans in coordination with Local Disaster Risk Management Planning (LDRMP), and other relevant process.
  • Collect and compile data needed for monitoring and evaluation system,
  • Build collaboration and coordination with locally active I/NGOs, VDC, district line agencies, and DDC in the districts,
  • Exploration of opportunities and identifying gaps for working together with other development partners in the areas of  livelihood, agriculture and DRR, including women empowerment for the rural poor in the district, 
  • Explore opportunities for establishing input-output oriented market linkages between local groups, cooperatives and external market actors for field product marketing,
  • Support and strengthen the project assisted partners like cooperatives, value chain actors, VDRR committee in close coordination with project team members,
  • Project management and result analysing
  • Design and conduct trainings/orientation.
  • Conduct as needed community based research in collaboration with approved Norlha projects and potential projects, i.e. community beneficiaries/ baseline/ need assessments etc.
  • Develop progress reports (monthly reports, quarterly reports, midterm, annual and project completion reports periodically and submitted to NORLHA/FOCUS Nepal in order to ensure the provision of accurate and updated information.
  • Work in close supervision of R&R specialist at Regional Office Norlha.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Candidates should have:

  • Bachelor Degree in development studies, rural development or other related discipline with at least 2 years of work experience in related fields, Master Degree will be preferred. 
  • Good knowledge and preferred experience on project management, participatory research/ development approaches, gender and social inclusion, livestock management, agriculture extension, community mobilisation, market development and project development and implementation.
  • Good knowledge on DRR issues.
  • Willingness and enthusiasm for working with rural and vulnerable communities living in remote areas of the country, 
  • Report writing skills
  • Fluency in Nepali and English
