We have an exciting opportunity for a Finance Administrator to join our office in Kathmandu. Our team is looking to expand to support the growth of our success in delivering projects. This is a junior role for someone with around 2-4 years’ experience within a commercial finance function, and who is looking to work in a small team with a broad finance remit.

  • Check and process invoices, bills and documents received from suppliers, contractors and consultants for payment.
  • Process staff salaries and all other payments to staff
  • Review all expenses for accuracy and make adjustments against any advances
  • Post entries in the accounting system on a daily basis
  • Prepare cashbooks based on the expenses booked for the month
  • Maintain the Fixed Assets Register and conduct physical verification on a regular basis
  •  Maintain all documents and records relating to payments and receipts and produce them as and when required
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations, tax reconciliation and VAT reconciliations
  • Prepare and submit statutory payments to respective authorities (TRA, WCF, pension funds, municipal council)
  • Manage the office petty cash
  • Ensure compliance with OPM's financial guidelines
  • Assist the Finance team based in Oxford, to ensure harmonisation with all procedures and systems
  • Provide in country project finance administration, including raising of invoices and preparing of subcontracts
  • Liaise with Oxford Project Administrators to provide support to the Implementation of projects including checking receipts, budget tracking and local payments
  • Travel when required for projects to help with their implementation
  • Any other finance administration duties reasonably requested by the Finance and Office Manager
  • Prepare monthly tax and VAT reconciliation along with bank reconciliation
  • Monthly ETDS and VAT return filing thereby maintaining VAT book.
  • Utilities payment and cross check for central and district offices.
  • Coordination and communication with district staff regarding financials issues

Key Skills & Experience:

  • Batchelor’s degree in finance / accounting. Possession of an equivalent qualification may be considered
  • At least two years’ experience working in an accounting or finance position
  • Conversant with Nepali taxation laws
  • Basic knowledge of international accounting principles and standards
  • Knowledge of financial and accounting software applications.
  • Ability to analyse financial data.
  • Proficient in MS Office.
  • Excellent English, both spoken and written.
  • Ability and willingness to work to a flexible schedule in a small office with fast paced and often changing deadlines
  • Ability to work co-operatively and confidently in a team.
  • Ability to work independently, under minimum supervision
  • Preferable knowledge of the Tally accounting system.

This is a full-time position based in our office in Khatmandu please note you must have the right to work in Nepal.
