Community Mobilization Component of EGRP in Dang District

Backward Society education (BASE) is a leading NGO officially registered in 1991 with District Administrative Office, Dang and SWC. BASE has worked in the field of education since its inception. BASE's reputation grew up amongst the marginalized communities of the mid-western and far-western region (Province no. 5, 7 and Karnali) resulting in a rapidly expanding grass roots and membership based social movement with an aim to empower socially excluded groups. BASE's program delivery has expanded to include formal education, non-formal (financial literacy), livelihood and support to sustainable economic development, child protection and child labor elimination, women empowerment, adolescent development, human rights violation monitoring, conflict mitigation through dialogue, water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) equity,  environmental sustainability, disaster preparedness  and response,  protection and promotion of traditional and indigenous cultures and strengthening governance in local institutions.

BASE has signed a contract with RTI International for implementing and managing the community mobilization component of the Early Grade Reading Program (EGRP) in Dang District. The overall purpose of the community mobilization of EGRP is to increase family and community support for improvement of early grade reading for children from grades one to three. BASE will work directly with School, SMC, PTA, Early Grade Reading sub-committee and all relevant community forums in close coordination with Education Development and Coordination Section at district level and Municipalities and Rural Municipalities in local for implementing activities related to community mobilization of EGRP in Dang.

BASE is inviting applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates for the following positions to implement community mobilization component of EGRP in Dang district. The last date of application is 25 May 2018 .

Monitoring, Evaluation and Documentation Coordinator (MEDC) is responsible to implement the monitoring and evaluation framework of community mobilization activities and produce and organize project related document reports, fact sheets, etc of community mobilization of Early Grade Reading Program (EGRP) to increase family and community support for Early Grade Reading project in Dang district

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, social work, or related field
  • Experience in designing and implementing monitoring and evaluation framework
  • At least 3 years’ experience in designing platform, recording progress, producing documentation/reports and monitoring and evaluation.
  • Experience in team leadership and coordination.
  • Experience in research, database management is preferred.
  • Strong IT background, specially advance knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Access, SPSS and other database platform
  • Strong  oral and written communication and report writing skills in English and Nepali
