Forum for Rural Development (FORD) Nepal is Non-Government Organization (NGO) established in 2056 B.S.Since the beginning, the organization has implemented different projects primarily focused on community development and social transformation to bring positive and sustainable changes in the lives of poor and vulnerable citizens. FORD Nepal has focused on fostering rural livelihood improvement through organizing people and developing inclusive leadership. Recently, the organization is implementing Okhaldhunga Recovery and Resilience Program (ORRP) in partnership with the Catholic Relief Service (CRS Nepal) at Likhu and Champadevi rural municipality of (former Singhadevi, Raniban and Phulbari VDCs of Okhaldhunga) to reconstruct community infrastructure and restore the livelihoods. Under ORR program, FORD Nepal is implementing Livelihood, Shelter and Restoration program. For successful implementation of the ORRP in rural areas, FORD Nepal is looking for qualified and experienced candidates for the following positions.  

Job Title: Livelihood Officer

Job Location: Manthali-1, Ramechhap

Length of Contract:Initial 1 year with high possibility of extension.

Responsible to:Program Manager

1. Required qualifications: 

  • Bachelors in agriculture background preferred.
  • At least 1 year of working experience in livelihood projects at the grassroots level.

2. Job competencies:

  • Experience in project planning and implementation at district level in governmental and non-governmental organizations
  • In depth knowledge of livelihood sector and its working modality in the country both government and non-government sector.
  • Strong communication, documentation, and dissemination skills 
  • Excellent skills in operating computer programs with various software

3.Project Implementation:

  • Develop monthly, quarterly and annual implementation plan as per the Project Aggreement. 
  • Provide technical and supervision support to animators, social mobiliser etc for quality implementation of project activities. 
  • Provide training to staff on livelihood activities and strategies. 
  • Provide technical inputs in various livelihood related program activties.
  • S/he will ensure the fulfillment of gap in livelihood sector with the development of effective community mobilization program in co-ordination with different Governmental and Non-governmanetal organizations. 
  • Make regular contacts with community stakeholders and social mobilizers to understands the project implementation issues and to make necessary change in the project implementation strategy. 

4. Monitoring and Reporting:

  • S/he will supervise the work progress and should submit the monthly, half yearly, yearly and completion report to Program Manager.
  • Prepare and submit timely narrative reports on financial expanditure in line with FORD policies. 
  • Support MEAL team in collecting and analyszing data in a timely and accurate manner. 

5. Coordination and Networking:

  • S/he will carry out the field level coordination, mobilization and support to Installation Company in community mobilization, coordination with CRS. 
  • S/he will coordinate with Government office to organize and conduct the different level orientation and trainings. 
  • Facilitate district level coordination, advocacy, lobbying and networking with different actors including government line agencies, and other related stakeholders on a regular basis. 
  • Liaison to government line agencies- District Agriculture Development Office, District Livestock Service Office, DDRC, District Development Committee, Village Development Committee, Ward Citizen Forum, Community Based Reconstruction Committee (CBRC) etc.

6. Others

  • Support to recruitment of Staffs and support staff development and capacity building. 
  • S/he will conduct Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) with target groups. And S/he will diseminate the findings. 
  • S/he will ensure the distribution of IEC material related to livelihood in community mobilization activities and awareness creation sessions.
  • Ensure the mobilizaton of SM, AM, TA, Technician and Volunteers to deliver the livelihood messaging through Group discussion and conduction of session- individuals and community level orienatation on livelihood related issues. 

Working conditions: 

This position is based in Manthali office, Ramechhap and requires 80% frequent travel to the project implementation VDCs.
