Details / requirements:

Feminist Dalit Organization-FEDO is registered as a national non-government organization in Nepal and is actively engaged to uplift and empower all Dalit and marginalized women and create a just, humane and right-based society. FEDO intends to recruit qualified Nepali citizen to look after the economic empowerment and livelihood project under the project “Strong girls! Adolescent girls (and boys) from Dalit and other marginalized communities in Rupandehi, Kapilbastu and Palpa in collaboration with GreenTara and REED Nepal. The project aims to increase access to quality education and a brighter future of girls from Dalit and other marginalized groups” over a funding period starting on 1st October 2018 and ending on 31st December 2021. The position will be based in FEDO District Office, Rupandehi to lead the livelihood component of the project. Coordinate with local government and relevant stakeholders to execute the micro-enterprise development plan for Dalit women groups and monitoring the progress.

Key responsibility:

  • Prepare plans for effective execution of the project activities related to livelihood approaches as stipulated in the project document which includes but not limited to skills, practices and capacities, to manage resources and skills particularly of women from Dalit and other marginalized communities, and strengthening to increase the capacity of group members.
  • Assist Project Manager, other project staffs and project partners to break-down and elaborate the project activities if and when necessary to integrate into economic empowerment and livelihood to increase the capacity of the communities
  • Establish close coordination and cooperation with district line agencies and authorities, between community based organizations, local community, project beneficiaries and other stakeholders at project level for effective delivery of economic empowerment activities and policy influence at local level.
  • Design, develop and provide necessary skill development training for group member to develop micro-enterprises for livelihood strategies and viable options for income.
  • Livelihood Coordinator is responsible to visit all the three targeted districts to ensure the proper implementation of project activities.

Key competencies required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, business development or other related field with in depth understanding of poverty and vulnerability issues in Nepal
  • Minimum two years of professional work experience in livelihood centered approaches on project management. 
  • Proficient and experienced in planning, monitoring and reporting of project activities in relevant field in multi-stakeholder partnerships and collaboration.
  • Excellent interpersonal, networking, communication, negotiation and facilitation skills
  • Excellent reading and writing skills in English and Nepali including the ability to compose, edit, analyses and report using complex information
  • Excellent computer skills including navigating email, internet and MS WORD and PowerPoint etc.

Selection Process:

  • If you are successful at this stage you will receive an invitation for an interview, which usually takes place at FEDO Office. Interviews can follow the competency-based format, in which you are asked to describe a relevant concrete examples drawn from your personal work experience
  • Interviews may also include motivational questions, as well technical questions
