APPIIC

Accelerating Public and Private Investment in Infrastructure (APPIIC) being implemented by IMC Worldwide is Lot 1 of the UK aid-funded “Accelerating Investment and Infrastructure in Nepal” (AiiN) programme that aims to support the Government of Nepal in attracting investments and accelerating investments into completed projects. APPIIC provides technical assistance to the Investment Board of Nepal (IBN), Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation; Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport and Ministry of Forest and Environment to increase public and private investment in large scale hydropower and transport infrastructure. APPIIC also manages DFID’s financial and human resources to IBN to facilitate private investment in Nepal’s infrastructure.

Details / requirements:

The Accelerating Public and Private Investment in Infrastructure Component (APPIIC) of the UKAID funded Accelerating Investment in Infrastructure in Nepal (AIIN) programme is managed by IMC Worldwide. The UK Government’s Department for International Development through APPIIC supports the easing of constraints that impede investment in infrastructure, and Investment Board of Nepal (IBN) in investment promotion, project development and the implementation of private and public infrastructure projects.

Position: Junior Assistant Road Maintenance Engineer (JARME)

Line Manager: Bottleneck 2 and 3Lead

Technical Manager: APPIIC Road Management Team

No. of days: 22 days per month until 31 March 2020 with potential to extend

Role:

The Junior Assistant Road Maintenance Engineer’s (JARME) role will be to support the ARME, National and International Road Maintenance Contracts Specialist, Bottleneck Lead 2 and 3Lead as well as other consultants/specialists contributing directly to Bottlenecks 2 and 3.

Responsibilities:

The JARME responsibilities are, but not limited to, the following tasks and duties:

  • Assist the ARME and APPIIC bottleneck 2 and 3 team in preparing information to go into work plans and progressand other reporting requirements of the bottlenecks;
  • Assist Road Agency staffs on behalf of APPIIC’s to implement the Pilot road Maintenance contracts. This includes support on quantity surveying of road works; preparing BOQs and estimates of works; preparation of bid documents and tendering; supervising and monitoring the work,etc.;
  • Assist the ARME APPIIC Road Management Team to monitor and report the progress of the pilot contracts by conducting field inspections with the client road agencies as well as well assist to evaluate the overall effectiveness of the contracts and recommend any modifications required;
  • Assist RAM municipalities staffs for the preparation of their respective Road Asset Management Plan on behalf of APPIIC’s technical assistance to the agency.

Person Specification:

Essential:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering;
  • Entry level position;
  • Strong research and analytical skills;
  • Strong writing and reporting skills;
  • Adept in Microsoft packages including MS Excel;
  • Good communication skills;
  • Good judgment.
