We are currently seeking IT OFFICER based in Kathmandu, Nepal.

This position reports to the Senior Manager of Production Operations based in at RTI headquarters in Research Triangle Park, NC, USA for the day-to-day operations.

Duties and responsibilities:

Request Management

  • Manage accounts (new account creation, modification and cancellation)
  • Manage file system rights and access
  • Manage AD/Exchange email accounts (new mailbox creation, modification, deletion and password reset)
  • Manage FTP accounts
  • Manage virtual server builds and decommissions

Monitoring Systems

  • Monitor systems availability, performance, capacity, and/or security.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve problems in response to alerts from monitoring tools or trouble reports from other ITS staff.
  • Track system usage and corresponding charges.
  • Perform quality control by monitoring contact channels and actively provides feedback when defects are found; log all defects.

Patch management

  • Perform maintenance, including installation of patches and upgrades, required to keep systems operational and as directed by management.
  • Perform meaningful tests on the solution to confirm problem resolution and ensure the absence of unintended side effects.
  • Recommend procedures and controls for problem prevention

Major Incident Management

  • Escalate problems to and status with vendors or other ITS staff as needed and in accordance with SOPs.
  • Communicate status to impacted stakeholders - including end users, ITS support staff, and ITS management – before, during, and after the installation or problem resolution activities as appropriate and in accordance with SOPs.
  • Manage time utilization to ensure that tasks are complete on or ahead of schedule, or that issues are escalated to project or ITS management.

Quality Assurance

  • Conduct quality assurance testing to validate installation against design specifications.
  • Develop baseline performance and track ongoing trends such as system availability and response time.
  • Write test plans, perform testing, and manage testing activities under the direction of a task leader
  • Assume responsibility for the quality of the applications and system tested.

Documentation Management

  • Maintain system documentation to reflect current configuration status.
  • Refine configuration/performance against baseline metrics and reported trends.
  • Configure equipment based on technical specifications and/or SOPs.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

  • 4 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 2 years with Master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, information technology or other related field.

Willingness and ability to :

  1. efficiently and effectively to work from home 90% of the work week
  2. work an alternate (but consistent) work time and schedule (ex. Friday – Tuesday 8PM-5AM NPT)
  • Basic knowledge and troubleshooting skills for Microsoft SQL 2008, .Net 4.5, IIS 7.5 and ColdFusion 10.
  • Proven administration skills of Windows Server (2008, 2012, 2016), VMWare, McAfee Antivirus
  • Ability to multi-task, work independently/ minimum supervision, work well under pressure.
  • Windows Server Patching
  • A customer service oriented individual
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple, high priority projects
  • General knowledge of or skills in installing, configuring, and implementing group rights, user rights, and operating systems;testing Business Continuity Plans;monitoring and maintaining system capacity, patches, system quotas, system documentation and system management tools;diagnosing, repairing and communicating status of system backups and restorations, system capacity, file and print services, group and user rights, operating systems, system quotas, and systems management tools; diagnosing, repairing, and communicating the status of applications, database systems, messaging systems, specialized computing platforms, storage systems and web technologies
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills in English
