CRS Nepal

CRS is an international NGO based in the United States that works in over 100 countries to promote human development by responding to major emergencies, fighting diseases, poverty, and nurturing peaceful and just societies. CRS started its operational presence in Nepal in response to the 2015 earthquake, providing immediate emergency response in multiple districts and earthquake recovery support. CRS Nepal has been coordinating the reconstruction through the leadership of the National Housing and Settlements Resiliency Platform (NHSRP), formally known as Housing Recovery and Reconstruction Platform (HRRP) since March 2017 to provide technical and information management support to relevant national, provincial and local governments. Similarly, CRS expanded its programming to other disasters responses (Lamjung, Jajarkot) in country as well as other sectors, namely Livelihoods, DRR and Climate Change. CRS Nepal is also implementing a USAID-financed livelihood technical assistance program, Farmer to Farmer (F2F), in Bagmati, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim Provinces.

Career Opportunities with HRRP Nepal 

The Housing Recovery and Reconstruction Platform (HRRP) was established to support the Government of Nepal and Partner Organisations (POs) with coordination of the post-earthquake housing reconstruction led by the National Reconstruction Authority (NRA). The HRRP is currently led by CRS Nepal and has been approved for its third phase that will run until end of February 2019, with the possibility of further extension.  

Applicants for the positions listed below must be Nepalese citizens with excellent written and spoken English and Nepali. Experience in international or governmental programmes is desirable. A detailed job description for each position can be obtained from the CRS Human Resources Office at HRNepal@crs.org.  

HRRP Deputy National Coordinator: (1 Position-Based in Kathmandu): Master's Degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Urban Planning, and/or Political Science, or field(s) related to disaster response shelter and settlements coordination or equivalent additional field experience required.   Minimum of five years relevant international working experience in an advisory or management role with progressive responsibilities, ideally with an international NGO, with minimum of three years working for programming interventions in disaster response shelter and settlements coordination. Previous experience providing technical assistance and developing successful proposals for external donor funding is required. Experience in business development, project design and proposal development in disaster response shelter and settlements coordination, including technical writing. Proficient in MS Office packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Web Conferencing Applications, information and budget management systems, knowledge-sharing networks.
