An INGO working with disadvantaged communities seeks highly motivated and qualified candidates for the following positions:

Role: Field Officer

Program: Equity in Inclusion in Education

Duty Station: Mahottari

Main Role and Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support to Education Development Coordination Unit, Municipality, and PNGOs, schools to manage and implement Early Grade Learning program activities;
  • Coordinate with Municipality level education units and other stakeholders to manage, implement, and monitor Early Grade Learning program;
  • Support to prepare, test, and revise training manuals, guidelines, and learning materials;
  • Assist in designing and testing Early Grade Learning materials in Maithili and special materials for inclusive education and multi-grade multi-level learning;
  • Support, facilitate and coach PNGOs to manage and deliver teacher training and parental engagement sessions including analysisof capacity needs of partner NGOs and proposed follow-up actions; Organize experience sharing exchanges between partners and strengthen their capacities;  ;
  • Assist PNGOs to prepare workplans, reports and collect EGRA/EGM data and information on program activities;
  • Monitor implementation and program management, and participate in joint monitoring.

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s Degree or related fields with a minimum of five years of experience in education sector; 
  • Extensive knowledge of the country’s education system, policies and strategies; 
  • Extensive experience in training teachers and NGO partner staff on child-centered teaching-learning approaches and local curriculum development; 
  • Knowledge in Early Grade Reading, Inclusive Education, mother tongue education and integrated learning is an asset; 
  • Results-oriented team player with very good analytical skills and problem-solving attitude; 
  • Fluency in Maithili language essential along with Nepali and English (spoken and written). 
  • Very good knowledge in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Goal-oriented, independent, committed, innovative and motivated; 
  • Able and willing to learn and acquire new knowledge relevant to the function; 
  • Excellent social and interpersonal communication skills and team spirit.

Role: Assistant Finance Officer

Duty Station: Kathmandu

Main Role and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare payment voucher and cheques for payment,
  • Assist the Finance Officer in preparing monthly bank reconciliation of the Flexible Spending Account (FSA),
  • Daily entry of vouchers in QuickBook (QB) Software,
  • Provide support to the Finance Officer for all financial tasks for settlements of  advance and field trip expenses,
  • Responsibility for petty cash including maintenance of petty cash records and completion of cash reconciliation at each month end,
  • Handling supplier invoices on a daily basis and to ensure that sufficient supporting documents are attached.
  • Check timesheets to ensure employees have correctly recorded their time.
  • Check expenses and receipts to ensure they are accurately recorded and the supporting documentation is adequate i.e. VAT invoice where applicable,
  • Arranging and scanning all vouchers to be sent to Head Office on a monthly basis,
  • Maintain VAT log and prepare Tax deposit details according to Inland Revenue and process for annual tax clearance certificate and also TDS details entry in IRD online system,
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Finance Officer to ensure the overall support and success of the finance team in fulfilling its mission and goals.

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred in Management with Accounts/Finance Specialization
  • Minimum three years of experience on Finance roles. Preference will be given to candidates having experience working with INGOs 
  • Good time management, excellent interpersonal skills, result oriented, team player having good problem-solving attitude.
  • Deal with, bank, tax office etc.
  • Knowledge of Nepalese taxation policies, tax laws/rules/regulations
  • Should be able to quickly learn and work on Quickbook accounting software
  • Should be comfortable to work extended hours, if so required.
  • Good knowledge in MS office applications, especially Excel and Word
  • Fluency in Nepali and English (spoken and written). 
  • Goal-oriented, independent, committed, innovative and motivated; 
  • Excellent social and interpersonal communication skills and team spirit.
