VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

Community Development Society (CDS) is a non-profit making, non-governmental social development organization established in 2001 under the Society Registration Act 1977 of Nepal. CDS has been working with vision of establishing ‘Self-reliant, Healthy and Equitable society’. CDS has been working in the sector of livelihood, small-scale infrastructure development, disaster resilience, health and sanitation, education, women empowerment, child right, renewable energy, peace and good governance for the past 14 years.

In this context, CDS is working with Islamic Relief Worldwide (IRW). IRW is an independent humanitarian and development organization, serving humanity for 32 years. It has an active presence in over 40 countries across the globe. The project aims to strengthen community and institutional capacity on Disaster Risk Management through the implementation of inclusive and flexible CBDRM, improved coordination, information management and policy advocacy. CDS is seeking innovative, self-motivated and dynamic personnel for the following positions.

DRR Project Manager 

(Fixed term till  December 2018)

 

Based in Field Office, Rasnalu, Gokulganga RM

 

  • Overall project management, planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting. Maintain strong coordination with district level government agencies, NGOs and other district and VDC level stakeholders
  • Develop and follow work-plans to enable timely and effective implementation of project activities
  • Ensure monitoring systems are followed and manage data and information collection
  • Provide guidance and support to project team in order to carry out activities in line with the implementation approach
  • Ensure that implementation is in-line with quality standards, including government acts and policies
  • Ensure guidelines and approaches to ensure inclusion are followed
  • Lead and/or co-facilitate training sessions
  • Document progress and provide regular updates
  • Coordination with Finance  for  review of monthly budget vs expense and other financial issues
  • Budget management and control.
  • Personnel/team management
  • Working closely with Executive Director and as well as members of the Mission East team Management

 

  • Master degree with 2 years relevant experience or  Bachelor's degree with 5 years’ relevant experience on disaster risk reduction and community development
  • Individuals with prior experiences in managing DRR, Livelihood and WASH projects will be preferred
  • Excellent English and Nepali writing and speaking skills
  • Knowledge of participatory approach and disaster risk reduction.
  • Coordination skill with stakeholders.
  • Riding motorbike is additional advantage.

 Civil Engineer

  • Carry out in-depth technical assessment for disaster mitigationschemes.
  • Complete site-specific designs, estimations, and BOQs based on in-depth assessments
  • Ensure quality control and quality assurance of technical works for disaster-resilient, accessible and inclusive design
  • Ensure that implementation follows designs, guidelines, and regulations
  • Ensure guidelines for disaster resilience, accessibility and inclusion are followed
  • Provide technical support for implementing schemes.
  • Planning, monitoring and reporting of the technical team. 
  • Support, monitoring, evaluation of the sub-ordinates. 
  • Diploma in Civil Engineering with 3 years relevant work experience.
  • Experience designing, implementing, and monitoring community infrastructure scheme (at least two different projects)
  • Experience managing construction works, ideally including community and schools
  • Excellent English and Nepali writing and speaking skills
  • Knowledge of participatory approach and disaster risk reduction.
  • Planning, monitoring and supervision skills.
  • Coordination skill with stakeholders
  • Riding motorbike is an additional advantage.

Sub-Engineer/Assistant Sub-Engineer

Based in Field Office, Rasnalu, Gokulganga

  •  Assist to survey, design and estimation of the schemes. 
  • Provide technical assistant to implement the schemes. 
  • Ensure effective and timely implementation of the planned and approved activities and strategies in the targeted community.
  • Assistant sub-engineer with 3 years working experience in related sector. 
  • or
  • Sub-engineer with 1 year working experience in relate sector. 
  • Riding motorbike is an additional advantage.

Accountant 

(Fixed term till December 2018)

 

Gokulganga RM Field Office (80%); Manthali (20%)

  • collecting, analyzing, & summarizing a/c information
  • Review bank statements
  • research & reconcile all discrepancies
  • Assist to auditing & verifying documents
  • following internal audit & controls
  • Assist in procurement of internal and external resources for specific activities and services, ensuring CDS procurement guidelines. 
  • Follow up on timesheets from the project staff and keep records.
  • Assist in internal audits, client audits and expenditure verification audit. 
  • Prepare the monthly Cash Flow return ensuring funds are available, and withdraw / transferred from the bank. Coordinate payment instruments (Cheque), and bank reconciliations. 
  • Process project staff monthly pay roll. 
  • Provide support for project closure and financial reconciliations.
  • Minimum a Bachelor Degree in management and 2+ years of experience in accountancy /finance and administration function in NGOs
  • Positive attitude &team working skills. 
  • Good in Microsoft Office packages.
  • Proficiency with FAMAS software with hands-on working experience of more than 3 years.
