KIRDARC in partnership of World Vision International (WVI) Nepal is implementing "Leverage Education Access in Rural Nepal (LEARN) Project”, “Community Engagement and Sponsorship Program (CESP)” and NEPAL DRR- Jumla and Sinja in Jumla district" with the aim to improve, care and development of children within families and communities and to access Quality, safe and inclusive education for children aged 3-9 in programme areas. Thus, KIRDARC invites applications from interested candidates based in Jumla District for the following full time position.

Disaster and Risk Reduction Officer (DRR Officer): 1 No.

Key Responsibilities: With having the project goal ‘Communities are more resilient to disaster’ under Nepal DRR Project, this position will be overall responsible for managing the project, technical support to subordinate staffs and monitoring the performance of field social mobilizers ensuring that social mobilizer have access to appropriate technical and functional support in terms of DRR project implementation, and managing relationships with sectoral key stakeholders including Rural Municipality members mainly Local Disaster Management Committee. Identify, assess and communicate risk associated with implementation of project, and development of mitigation measures. Regularly coordinate and influence to local elected representatives for DRR mainstreaming into development planning process. Prepare DRR capacity building plan and deliver accordingly, Facilitate training, workshop and orientation at district and local level. Ensure planning, monitoring and reporting of the project is submitted on timely with high quality.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience: Bachelor degree in Environment Science/Social Science or relevant discipline at least two years of experience of project implementation in Disaster Risk Reduction and Humanitarian Response. Knowledge related on Government’s DRR policy, DRR training development and facilitation to local representatives; Good Knowledge on community based disaster risk management (CBDRM) approaches and Local Disaster Risk and Climate Resilience Plan (LDCRP);Knowledge on Local Development Planning Process and Vulnerability and Capacity Analysis (VCA). Sound skills in Report writing, Training Need Assessment process and tools for staffs and target group.
