 About the role

This is an exciting role aimed at consolidating our emergency work and developing a strategic long-term development programme in Nepal.  Christian Aid is looking for an aspiring individual who is keen to manage and grow a motivated team. As Country Director you will have overall responsibility for developing and leading a team of staff to manage a programme portfolio innovate new ideas and, fund raise to expand the programme. The Country Director will initially focus on building the Christian Aid profile in Nepal and develop long term strategic partnerships with local civil society, private sector and communities.

As Country Director will be You will report to the Head of Region and lead CA’s Nepal team to deliver a programme with humanitarian and long-term development impacts. This position will need you to work within budgets and to specific timescales.

 About you

Essential: Substantial experience of international development work at a senior level; experience of leading and managing teams in different cultural settings; experience of managing partnerships with civil society organizations and donors; significant programme delivery experience; experience of fundraising from institutional donors as well as experience in security management.

Preferred: Experience of managing partnerships across the various sectors; experience of leading organizational change processes; experience of humanitarian and emergency assistance

This position is open to national and expatriates.

Expatriate benefits such as accommodation, school fees, annual flights home will be applicable to candidates who are  not local or permanent resident (i.e. employees who work outside their country of residence) Expat Benefits will be entitled as per the expatriate benefits policy.

Returning candidates will not be entitled to expatriate benefits i.e. candidates who are nationals of Nepal but have been working outside of their home country will not be entitled to expatriate benefits and will only be entitled to relocation benefits.
