Organisation Background

International Alert is an independent peacebuilding organisation working in more than 25 countries and territories. Our multi-faceted approach focuses both in and across various regions; aiming to shape policies and practices that affect peacebuilding; and helping build skills and capacity through research, dialogue, advocacy and training.Alert has been working in Nepal since 2001 on access to security and justice, gender equality, governance and peacebuilding. 

Position: Consultant (Short Term)

Location: Kathmandu (occasional travel to the field)

International alert is looking for a consultant toprovide technical assistance to project team for effective implementation of social accountability approach to improve security and justice services. The consultant will support ProjectManager in compiling and analysing the both quantitative and qualitative findings of community score card (CSC). S/he will report to the Project Manager and work closely with project team.

Major duties and responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with field staff for documentation of findings including joint action plan, and areas of collaboration linking with project’s scope and priorities. 
  • Prepare consolidated and district specific reports based on the quantitative and qualitative findings and support project team in writing, editing and dissemination of the achievements and the lessons learned in form of assessments, briefing notes, analytical reports, case studies, success stories by project staffs, partners and stakeholders.
  • Provide technical inputs and facilitation support in conducting periodic monitoring (court verdicts/decisions), and organizing referral pathways events. 
  • Support Project Manager in compiling and writing the progress report. 
  • Travel to the districts as and when necessary.

Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years of applied experience in development programs - experience in security and justice would be preferable; 
  • Capacity of analysing social and political context, and must have knowledge and experience of social accountability approaches.
  • Strong interpersonal and facilitation skills; creative, entrepreneurial and collaborative work style; 
  • Strong command of English, with excellent writing skills and able to generate surveyand research reports; and
  • At least Bachelor’s degree in laws;
