Accelerating Investment & Infrastructure in Nepal (AIIN)

The Accelerating Public and Private Investment in Infrastructure Component (APPIIC) of the UKAID funded Accelerating Investment in Infrastructure in Nepal (AIIN) programme is managed by IMC Worldwide. The Major Projects Group (MPG) is funded by the UK Government’s Department for International Development through its APPIIC project, and provides support to the Investment Board of Nepal (IBN) and other GoN ministries and agencies on investment promotion and the delivery of public infrastructure. MPG would like to invite application from the competent candidates for the following position to be based in Office of the Investment Board of Nepal (OIBN).

The Accelerating Public and Private Investment in Infrastructure Component (APPIIC) of the UKAID funded Accelerating Investment in Infrastructure in Nepal (AIIN) programme is managed by IMC Worldwide. The UK Government’s Department for International Development through APPIIC supports consultants who support the Office of the Investment Board of Nepal (IBN) in investment promotion, project development and the implementation of private and public infrastructure projects. APPIIC would like to invite applications from candidates for the following position to will be based in Office of the Investment Board of Nepal (OIBN).

Consultant – Investment Promotion (Required No. 1)

i.Job Description

  1. The Consultant will work in APPIIC’s Investment Promotion, Private Investment and Partnership Unit at Office of the Investment Board Nepal completing assignments and tasks defined in a Terms of Reference.
  2. The Consultant will work under the day to day direction, guidance, and supervision of the head of the Investment Promotion, Private Investment and Partnership Unit.
  3. The Consultant will be responsible for tasks assigned by the Unit head according to the requirements of the IBN.
  4. In addition to the above, The Consultant will be responsible for the following tasks:

A.Investment Promotion

  • Continue to support the Office of IBN with investment promotion activities and follow upon the potential investors who have shown interest in business opportunities in Nepal;
  • Organise promotional events such as road shows, conferences, and workshops to promote specific projects and sectors both internationally and in Nepal;
  • Develop promotional materials about investment opportunities and investment processes in Nepal;
  • Work with relevant government agencies, diplomatic missions (both foreign and Nepali) and private sector organizations to organise and promote investment opportunities in Nepal;
  • Manage procurement processes as and when required to execute investment promotion activities;
  • Coordinate with colleagues to ensure the quality and effectiveness of the IBN website is high in relation to investment promotion;

B.Investor Services

  • Be the first point of contact for investors approaching IBN and provide the relevant information on the investment climate and processes;
  • Coordinate and facilitate Investment Facilitation Coordination Committee (IFCC) meetings that provides one-window investor services and facilitate investment;
  • Meet with and guide potential investors and  developers who express an interest in investing in Nepal and convert such interest into projects;

C.Research and Development

a) Work to improve the investment climate in Nepal by providing recommendations that can simplify procedures and regulations for:

  1. investment applications and approvals;
  2. foreign currency repatriations;
  3. business registrations;
  4. obtaining consents, approvals, and licences;
  • Ensure regular the update and dissemination of investment guides, sector profiles and factsheets on investment projects, and other investment promotion materials;
  • Conduct research on investment related issues;

ii.           Education

Master’s Degree in Management and Economics preferred.

iii.          Knowledge, skills and abilities

A strong command of the English and Nepali languages (both writing and speaking).

iv.          Experience and Competencies

At least 5 years of experience in well-established organizations.

A results-oriented team player with skills and competencies in

i) Event organisation

(ii Government and foreign private sector stakeholder management and coordination

(iii)Good interpersonal skills

(iv)Research and analytical skills

(v)Managerial skills in leading, organising, planning and executing independently

v.           Working Conditions

The Consultant will work in IBN Office's with set days and office hours.  However, the job may infrequently require some out of hours work to complete tasks within deadlines and there may be some occasional travel.
