Consultancy Opportunity

CBM Nepal Country Office (NCO) is an international development organization committed to improving the quality of life of people with disabilities in the poorest communities of the world irrespective of race, gender or religious belief. Our work in Nepal spans across 40 districts and based on a programmatic approach to ensure rehabilitation and inclusive development of persons with disabilities.

CBM seeks application from qualified and competent candidates for following positions:

1.Job Title: Consultant/ Coordinator (for 4 months)

Objective:  

CBM Nepal Country Office works to empower persons with disabilities to take active roles in their communities through inclusion in development projects & other activities & initiatives.

The overall objective of the assignment is to develop and implement a comprehensive plan for the Miracles Day August trip in supervision of CBM Field Communication Coordinator. 

Liaise with a CBM Australia representative and provide support as per the request. 

Required Qualification 

  • Excellent command of both written and spoken English. 
  • Experience of media communication. 
  • Willingness to travel outside of the Kathmandu valley. 
  • Experience in working with INGOs and other international organizations. 
  • Understanding of the local languages spoken in State 1 will be an added advantage. 

2.Job Title: Translator/Interpreter (for 7 days)

Objective:  

The overall objective of the assignment is to accompany CBM Australia team into the field and conduct consecutive interpretation after the speaker has paused, sentence by sentence to translate interviews/information collected in the field from English to Nepali and vice versa. 

Specific objectives of the assignment are listed below: 

  • Listening carefully. 
  • Comprehending languages. 
  • Accurate and succinct reproduction in Nepali to English language and vice versa. 

Required Qualification

  • Interpreter needs complete fluency in the required working languages and the ability to instantly comprehend and convert one language into another. 
  • Interpreter also need a good understanding of spoken and colloquial language. 
  • In liaison and consecutive translation, a good memory is particularly helpful. 
  • Equally, excellent concentration and the ability to think quickly are essential. 
  • Past experience in working in such interview scenarios will be preferred. 
  • Excellent communicative skill. 
  • Radio friendly voice is preferred. 
  • Experience in working with INGOs and other international organizations. 
  • Understanding of the local languages spoken in state 1 will be an added advantage
