KOSHI VICTIM'S SOCIETY (KVS), is a non-political and non-profitable organization established in 2003 in Saptari District of Nepal. Since then, the organization has been working with a goal to create positive changes by increasing the community’s voices and participation in achieving overall development of target communities through the appropriate utilization of local resources and advocacy measures.

Currently KVS is implementing a project, ‘Enhancing Civil Society Organization (CSOs) roles as key development partners for Climate Resilient Policies and Practices in Province 2’ with the financial support of European Commission in partnership with Oxfam GB Nepal at Kanchanrup Municipality and Tirahut Rural Municipality of Saptari district. At the moment, KVS is seeking a qualified, dynamic and self-motivated Nepali Citizen on following position for successful implementation of the project activities.

Details of the vacancy:

Position: Field Officers

Duration: One year (with possibility of extension) 

Duty Station: Municipality (Field based)

Type of the Position: Fixed Term (Till Project Period)

Job Summary: The field Officer (FO) will be overall responsible for implementing the project activities at field level along with maintaining coordination with Local Government, CSOs, CBOs and project relevant stakeholders at local level. Also, the FO has been anticipated to facilitate to introduce and promote the resilient livelihood technologies, identify the Climate Smart Agriculture Practices, Natural Resource Management, transferring the knowledge and skills to the CSOs/CBOs in the project area through the trainings, orientations, demonstrations etc.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Identification of appropriate Climate Resilient Nature-based solution and Practices at the project areas along with knowledge and skills transfer to the targeted CBOs/CSOs beneficiaries as required. 
  • Provide technical inputs and field-based data, information for the climate resilient practices and natural disaster risk reduction etc.
  • Coordinate with local LG, CBOs/CSOs for establishing / strengthening relationship for natural resources and bio-diversity conservation.  
  • Maintain close coordination and relationship with local government, elected representatives, government officials, bodies local stakeholders (i.e., agriculture, forestry, environment, health, education and other relevant stakeholders etc.) for leveraging local resources, experiences and expertise in climate resilient livelihood promotion in the targeted municipality/rural municipalities. 
  • Lead meetings, orientations, trainings, visits etc. for introduction, promotion of knowledge and skill transfer and adoption related with Climate resilient Practices to the vulnerable groups, CBOs/CSOs in the project areas. 
  • Support Project Coordinator in project planning, implementation, monitoring and documentation of project activities and progress.  
  • Other roles and duties as assigned by the Project Coordinator related to the project.

Academic Qualification and Professional Skills

  • A minimum of bachelor’s degree in Agriculture/Forestry/Environment Science/or any Social Science from recognized University (Master’s degree preferred).
  • At least two years of professional experience in Forestry/Agriculture/Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Change Adaptation related projects with focus on climate resilient Practices and Resilient Livelihoods. 
  • Experience of working in donor funded projects and coordinating with municipal level government and non-government stakeholders. 

Essential Skills and Expertise

  • Proficient in Nepali, English and Terai languages. Proficiency in local languages of the project areas will be an added advantage.
  • Proficient in report writing and good communication skills desired. 
  • Good computer skills in MS Office Package, Power Point Presentation, Email, Communication etc. 
  • Experience and skills in facilitating trainings, meetings and orientations for the rural farmers. 
  • Knowledge and experience in community-based disaster risk reduction and management will be added advantage.
