Feminist Dalit Organization (FEDO) is a pioneer organization in Nepal to advocate Dalit’s rights and women’s rights simultaneously. FEDO envisions just and equitable society, and puts Dalit women at the core of its all initiatives. Its actions are dedicated to economic empowerment, human rights and access to justice, leadership development, inclusive governance and social justice, and gender responsive humanitarian assistance for Dalits, women and the most vulnerable population in Nepal. Its organizational presence is expanded to 56 districts and all seven provinces of Nepal. FEDO has also been working with national and international networks and platforms of women and Dalits.

We are currently seeking qualified, competent, creative, committed and highly motivated candidates for the position of Executive Director, and therefore, invite applications from eligible Nepali citizens.

Overall Purpose of the Position:

The Executive Director shall be responsible for overall leadership and management of programs and administration of FEDO. S/he shall lead the planning, implementation, and monitoring and evaluation of all programs/projects of the organization. S/he shall play a strategic role in new program/project development and resource generation. S/he shall ensure all policy and donor compliances, quality assurance of project implementation and donor reporting.

The position will be based in FEDO's central office in Kathmandu, with 20 to 25 percent travel outside Kathmandu valley.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities of the Position:

  • Provide strategic leadership for overall management (program and administration) of FEDO.
  • Lead and mentor all staff teams to develop annual budgets and work plans consistent with project documents and donor contracts and in line with FEDO's strategic plan.
  • Lead and mentor teams in undertaking the necessary reviews and updating of the work plans and budgets of various projects of the organization.
  • Conduct regular risk assessment and devise mitigation strategies, and ensure all projects are implemented on time and within project budget and scope.
  • Development advocacy plan and strategies for the rights and justice of Dalit women.
  • Provide guidance and devise strategies for human resource management & development.
  • Coach and provide guidance to the individual members of the Program and Finance Team, and ensure effective coordination among program and finance team members.
  • Maintain strong communication and coordination with district offices and partners.
  • Manage monitoring and evaluation functions of the organization.
  • Ensure all reports are compliant with the highest quality standards, timelines, and formats.
  • Provide coaching/mentoring to staff team for program data management, impact documentation and knowledge production and dissemination; and ensure comprehensive and quality data is available for project management, donor reporting and new project development.
  • Ensure accountability and compliance with donor requirements.
  • Provide leadership to grow and expand partnerships, funding, and collaboration opportunities.
  • Explore funding opportunities to implement strategic plan, and lead the bidding process.
  • Support organizations' board for strengthening system and good governance practices.
  • Work in close coordination with FEDO's board members, and staff team in order to promote, implement and uphold FEDO's vision, mission, core values and objectives.
  • Ensure FEDO is positioned and actively represented with funding partners, alliances, consortiums, likeminded organizations and government stakeholders.
  • Enhance FEDO's visibility among donors, partners, and stakeholders.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Completed Master's degree in management, social sciences (or equivalent) with at least five years working experience in senior management position of non-profit organization.
  • The working experience in women led or women rights organizations will be added value.
