Reconstruction and Research Development Centre, Nepal (RRDC), a national Non-Profit Non-Governmental Organization based in Mugu district, was established by a group of community development practitioners and human rights activists with the aim to contribute to the reconstruction and development of the country. RRDC is an apolitical, non-profit organization established and registered with the Social Welfare Council in 2010. Its objectives are among others to improve food and nutrition security through research and development programming focused on agriculture, health and drinking water, to contribute to sustainable rural development through reconstruction and rehabilitation of rural infrastructures collapsed due to conflict and other forms of hazards. It promotes good governance and accountability through implementation of relevant programmes and activities such as awareness building through capacity strengthening and community radio programme airing.  In addition, RRDC aims at promoting legal awareness on people’s fundamental and legal rights as well as to strengthen community resilience towards conflicts and natural hazards. 

In the partnership with Welthungerhilfe (WHH), RRDC is implementing the project “Strengthening Food and Nutrition Security Resilience of Disadvantaged Population Groups in Mugu District” with an objective to strengthening and enhancing good governance and citizen awareness on food and nutrition security issues; agro-based value chain and market development; and nutrition awareness and promotion. The project will be implemented in Khatyad Rural Municipality and over 2,000 households will directly be benefitted from the project. The project will closely be managed in coordination with local elected representatives and other stakeholders including both private and civic bodies.

The position is based in Majhchaur, Mugu with at least 70% target area field visit. The position is responsible to coordinate all the project activities at the district of responsibility. The position prepares project reports such as quarterly, interim and final, and submits to the donor. The candidate must at least have a Master Degree in Agricultural Science or related subject with minimum of three years similar work experience. The candidates with Bachelors in Practical Sciences such as Forestry, Natural Science, etc with minimum five year’s similar work experience can also apply. 

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Overall management, planning,  of the project and promotion of Good Governance, Agriculture and Nutrition in Karnali region coordination, monitoring of field outreach, Agriculture, Nutrition, GESI and Good Governance initiatives in the district of Karnali regions: reports to Donor.
  • Represents and reports on project's objectives, progress, and achievements; ensures quality standard of outputs, application of project methods; maintains good relation and coordination with local public authorities (DCC, RMCs, Government line agencies), Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) including media and political bodies for promotion of Governance, Agriculture and Nutrition and enhancing empowerment in Karnali region.
  • Oversees the general management and smooth operations in the project district office ( Khatyad RMC, Mugu) and promotion of Good Governance, Agriculture and Nutrition.
  • Ensures project's effective bottom up coordination and communication with the project through periodic reports
  • Facilitates to development partners and stakeholders to promote inclusion and empowerment of marginalized population in decision making 

Expertise Required

  • At least  Bachelor Degree Qualification with 5 years' work experience or Master Degree academic qualification with 3 years of work experience in Good Governance, Agriculture, Nutrition, local development and GESI: innovate and creative thinker and willingness to work in Karnali region.
  • Previous experience of  in project leadership, management and implementation (planning, organizing, coordination, directing, monitoring and reporting)
  • Has positive record of accomplishment of working with local level stakeholders; has strong leadership, presentation, networking and report writing skills.
  • Skill of computer knowledge, communication skill in English and Nepali, two whiles driving license is compulsory 
  • Has strong thematic expertise in, and understanding of decentralization, local governance, empowerment, civic engagement, community development and social accountability and inclusion issues.
