ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for a Database Engineer responsible for the development, maintenance and usage of our PostgreSQL-based database and our no-SQL MongoDB database. Your primary focus will be the setup and continuous development of a PostgreSQL cluster (CitusDB) deployed on AWS and training team members in its usage.

You will be working alongside other experienced engineers and developers working on different layers of the infrastructure. Therefore, a commitment to collaborative problem solving, sophisticated design, and the creation of quality products is essential.

The major responsibilities include:

• Developing and delivering quality services and solutions using Python/Node.JS, REST, RDBMS, No-SQL, AWS cloud and other web technologies
• Write efficient/performant SQL queries along with optimization of existing ones to generate analytical data
• Write well designed, readable, testable, and scalable code as well as define and enforce standards regarding code quality and test coverage
• Document, organize, maintain and expand existing codebase
• Troubleshoot and resolve bugs and issues across the services
• Collaborate closely with product managers, product designers and other engineers to conceptualize, build and test new product features
• Ensure availability and reliability of our services in production
• Work collaboratively and efficiently across functional teams in a fast paced early stage startup environment

Required Knowledge/Skills and Experience:

• Minimum 2+ years of experience in Python, NodeJS, Scala or any backend language.
• Minimum 2+ years of experience with PostgreSQL (or any SQL) database
• Experience with writing efficient SQL queries
• Experience working with GIT
• Must have good practical knowledge of REST Standards and REST API Development
• Strong problem solving skills
• Nice to have:
  • Experience with AWS
  • Experience with Apache Spark/Kafka/Kinesis
  • Experience with Kubernetes
  • Experience with Mongo database
