Ipas works globally with a vision that every woman and girl has the right and ability to determine her own sexuality and reproductive health. We seek to expand the availability, quality and sustainability of abortion and related reproductive health services, as well as improve the enabling environment for the services. Ipas Nepal’s program intervention prioritize intersectional partnerships that integrates into the broader gender equality and social justice, including gender-based violence prevention and response, and women-led climate justice. Our programs use a multifaceted approach that addresses reproductive health services, access to services and fulfillment of reproductive rights. Climate change is one of the defining crises of our time, and people’s sexual and reproductive health and rights are affected by this crisis. The effects of climate change amount to a global public health, economic, humanitarian, and gender equality.  

Research Objective:

To generate evidence of the linkages between Climate Change, Gender and Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR).

Consultant

An individual consultant is eligible to conduct this assignment. She/he should have an understanding on climate change, gender and SRHR. She/he should have knowledge on academic research process and understanding of climate vulnerability and risk analysis and adaptation planning. 

She/he should have minimum master’s degree in Environmental Science or Gender or Development studies (social science) and a very good facilitation, communication and writing skills. Willingness to travel to project area and experience of working in a consortium of local government and other institutions is essential.

Scope of Assignment/Roles and Responsibilities of the consultant

The consultant should support Ipas Nepal in conducting Pilot Research Project on ClimateChange,Gender and Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR). She/he should support Ipas Nepal and its partners with the Research design/execution and implementation.

Level of Effort

The consultancy period will begin from November 2021 – October 2022 within which the consultant is expected to work for not exceeding 40 days after signing the agreement for this assignment. 

Deliverables

  • Research design
  • Execution report that includes, analysis of climate change impacts, vulnerability analysis, and adaptation planning
  • Draft report on Climate Change, Gender and SRHR
