Consultant to Develop Advocacy Toolkit

Ipas Nepal is planning to develop an advocacy toolkit focused on safe abortion in in collaboration with National Health Education Information and Communication Centre (NHEICC) for civil society actors to address social norms on partnering with the government. This tool will provide a roadmap on how abortion and access to SAS can be included in government policies and how civil society can contribute towards advancing safe abortion issues.

Duration: Mid November 2020 till 31 December 2020 

Role and Responsibilities of the consultant: 

• Prepare timeline for the development of advocacy tool kit and share with Ipas Nepal.
• Toolkit to be developed on SRHR issues, with critical analysis on safe abortion issues, incorporating Rights Based Approach on health services access and development.
• To widen the advocacy of these issues through local level social mobilizers and their role to help reduce stigma and discriminations on abortion services and issues.
• To analyze the role of gender and social norms on SRHR and incorporate the local level accountability and sustainability on the advocacy.
• Coordinate with Ipas Nepal to finalize the contents and modality of the advocacy toolkit. 
• Conduct regular meetings with Ipas Nepal and concerned government stakeholders to adapt their learnings and consultation on the toolkit.
• Field test of the advocacy toolkit with support from Ipas Nepal.
• Develop the advocacy toolkit in Nepali and English Language.
• Share and present the first draft of the advocacy toolkit to Ipas Nepal and concerned stakeholders. 
• Consolidate feedback and suggestion given by Ipas Nepal and the stakeholders and prepare the final advocacy toolkit.

Qualifications: 

• Candidate with master’s degree, in sociology, public health, or gender.
• The candidate should be a highly qualified professional with extensive working experience in the development of advocacy documents in Health Education, especially focused on Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights for girls and women. 
• Must be familiar with SRHR issues and safe abortions issues.
• With more than 10 years of experience in preparing manuals and toolkit in SRHR including safe abortion issues. 
• Familiar with working modality of three tires of government especially with the local bodies. 
• Experience and understanding of partnership-based advocacy focused on SRHR issues including safe abortion services.
• With excellent written and communication skills in English and Nepali.
