Ipas works globally with a vision that every woman and girl has the right and ability to determine her own sexuality and reproductive health. Ipas Nepal’s program intervention prioritize intersectional partnerships that integrates into the broader gender equality and social justice, sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) - including gender-based violence prevention and response, and women-led climate justice. 

Objective

The  objective of this consultancy is to produce 2 (two) documentaries and 4 (four) short videos that capture the overall journey of community mobilization, technical assistance (TA) provided on sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), safe abortion and reproductive justice. The documentaries and videos will be used to: 

• promote the efforts of marginalized women and girls to empower fellow peers and community members in understanding, accessing, and asserting their Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) and reproductive justice
• document the policy and advocacy efforts to mainstream the safe abortion and reproductive justice agenda at the federal, provincial, and local level

Scope of work

The consultant/consulting firm will be responsible for overall creative design, storyboarding, filming, editing, narrating the documentary and series of short videos. Ipas Nepal team will provide all the necessary information, coordination support and feedback on the draft versions of the videos and documentary in this process.

The documentary and short videos need to be guided by the notion of beneficiary communications – where the stories, narratives need to be told, keeping beneficiary at the center. Documentary should be in Nepali with English subtitles.

Location of the filming

Filming and interviews will be conducted in few selected sites in Sudurpashchim Province (such as Doti, Achham, Bajura, Kailali) and Kathmandu valley. The exact locations for the filming will be decided later by the technical team at Ipas Nepal and will be communicated accordingly to the film crew. 

Expected Timeline

• The consultancy is expected to commence from first week of June, 2022 and final deliverable to be submitted by first week of July, 2022.

Payment milestones and Deliverables

Payments for this assignment will be processed based on the following installments:

The deliverables of the assignment will be:

• 2 documentaries (of about 10 minutes duration each)
• 4 Short videos (of about 3 minutes each)
• Raw footage of all filmed sites and interviews

Qualifications

1. Minimum three years of experience of documentary production for I/NGOs especially related to SRHR, gender and women’s health and empowerment issues
2. Access to high-quality filming, light, sound and editing equipment
3. Ability to operate under strict time limits and apply high production and technical standards for the purpose of maintaining high level of professionalism
4. Ability to communicate and conduct interviews 
5. Track record of successful materials filmed in the region and /or on similar topics would be an asset
