Background

The Strategic Partnership Right Here, Right Now addresses the limited respect, protection and the hindered fulfillment of the sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) of young people in 10 countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America and in 1 sub-region, the Caribbean.

The RHRN platform in Nepal consists of 15 civil society organizations, including a host organization, YUWA, which hosts the RHRN platform secretariat. The work of the organizations are focused on improving Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) of young people in Nepal.

Established in 2009, YUWA is a not for profit, youth run, and youth led organization working to promote youth participation through empowerment and advocacy.

Overview of the assignment

YUWA is seeking a qualified and experienced consultant to develop a booklet of the case stories emphasizing the overall efforts, learnings and success stories from individuals and organizations associated with the RHRN platform.. RHRN is a five-year advocacy based project that works on three thematic areas: Comprehensive Sexuality Edication, Safe Abortion and Marriage Equality with many cross cutting interventions and efforts.

The year 2020 is the final year of this project, therefore, YUWA on behalf of RHRN is taking an initiative to produce this case stories booklet to document all the outcomes and learnings and successes so far during the implementation period. This booklet will be used for both internal programmatic review as well as for the external stakeholders.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Review all the relevant documents and reports of Right Here Right Now Nepal
• Coordinate with all the platform organizations and compile together the success stories and learnings to showcase it in a form of booklet.
• Validate the findings by collecting evidence from the platform organizations, stakeholders, and partners.
• Edit and finalize the case stories received from platform organizations.
• Continuous follow up with partner organizations to receive the necessary documents
• Coordinate with platform organizations and secretariat for interviews and meetings when necessary.
• Identify and visualize the qualitative and quantitative data for the booklet.
• Document the overall case stories in the form of a booklet and coordinate with the designer to produce a final product.

Deliverables

The consultant will submit a final booklet with case stories focusing on the overall efforts, learnings and successes of RHRN activities focusing on the national and provincial level advocacy in Safe Abortion, Marriage equality and Comprehensive Sexuality Education. The booklet should contain organization profile, individual testimonies, etc in terms of its association with RHRN Nepal. The booklet should be in English as well as Nepali Language.

Competencies

• Team Leader and Co-Lead must have University level education in sociology, social sciences or related fields and/ Knowledge or studies related to gender. (10 points)
• Experience of gender analysis and gender related research will add value. (10 points)
• Familiar with young people’s SRHR issues including safe abortion, marriage equality and comprehensive sexuality education. (15 points)
• Proven experience and understanding of partnership-based advocacy and capacity-building projects. (15 points)
• Experience of research, evaluation and uses of participatory approach. (20 points)
• Proven experience of developing case stories on sensitive issues. (20 points)
• Good communication, facilitation and interpretation skills (5 points)
• Proficiency both in English and Nepali (5 points)

Duration

The total length of the assignment is expected to be two months (August 11th 2020 - September 30 2020)
