Bheri Environmental Excellence Group (BEE-Group) is an autonomous, independent, non-partisan, and non-governmental organization. It was established in 2000 AD, registered in District Administration Office, Banke, and affiliated to the Social Welfare Council, Kathmandu. BEE-Group has been doing collaborative advocacy for the protection and promotion of human rights, establishment of social justice, gender equality, and social inclusion and environmental conservation, and community development through the community empowerment and mobilization for meaningful participation and networking since its establishment in the Lumbini and Karnali Province of Nepal with building a trustworthy reputation.

BEE-Group is implementing a project, namely the Supporting Occupational and Environmental Health partnership with MdM France. BEE-Group is seeking qualified, experienced, self-motivated Community Mobilizer for the mentioned project. The project aims to support and strengthen the livelihoods, wellbeing, environmental and occupational health of farmer groups and waste workers exposed to chemicals, physical and infectious toxic factors.

1. Position: Community Mobilizer – 2 No. 

Duty Station: Based at BEE-Group office, Banke and frequently visit (>80%) to project area.

Job Summary: The community mobilizer will plays a vital role in social mobilization for the implementation of activities in the field to achieve the objectives stated in the project document inconsistent with the strategic direction of BEE-Group Banke thereby making a major contribution to the development and articulation of organization’s objectives. 

Reports to: Project Coordinator 

Tasks and responsibilities: 

  • Activities implementation with highest degree of targeted community engagement,
  • Support to project team in preparation of periodic progress report,
  • Managing relationship with like-minded stakeholders,
  • Strengthen the organizational profile

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead in smooth implementation of the project activities in the field as per activity implementation guideline mobilizing to formal and informal Waste Workers (IWWs) group, CSO’s and other stakeholders regularly and providing necessary technical guidance to the lead farmers and supervisor of waste workers,  
  • Ensure effective and efficient implementation of the community mobilization for campaigning, Behaviour Change Communication sessions, 
  • Participate and conduct training, workshop, and support waste workers and  CSO’s promptly for establishing and functionalizing of their groups and CSO networks,
  • Ensure quality delivery of BCC sessions and activities by supervisor’s and perform regular field visits to ensure the smooth implementation of program activities, 
  • Support in development of required manuals, guidelines and BCC materials,
  • Support and facilitate for planning and implementation of project activities properly, ensuring the implementation in the field timely manner,
  • Support to admin and finance department for proper management of financial transactions referring to the compliances,
  • Work closely with the local government, CSO’s, Balmiki Samaj, Scrap Association and related stakeholders,
  • Ensure that the quality and smooth implementation of community mobilization methodology in project activity at field level,
  • Promotion of conductive environment through networking and workshops with stakeholders involving public, private and partnership (PPP), including Ward level and municipal level government, 
  • Participate and support in development of advocacy plan and its implementation, 
  • Contribute to active participation of targeted beneficiaries in the activities implementation and support in building capacity of CSOs, supervisors and leader farmers to collectively engage them for resolution of identified issues, 
  • Follow up the relevant guidelines and reference documents designed by BEE- Group and MdM France in collaboration, 
  • Support project team on need basis for implementation of the program activities in the field.

Education and Experience: Intermediate level in any discipline with at least 3 years of relevant work experience or Bachelor's degree with at least 2 years of work experience in environmental and occupational health for the farmer groups and waste workers and sustainable agriculture practices. The candidate must have a valid motorbike/scooter license and be willing to travel in the community frequently, and well commanding in local Awadhi and Tharu languages.
