Background

Shanti Jana Adarsha Sewa Kendra (SJASK), established in 1992 AD, is a not-for-profit making development NGO of Kavrepalanchok district. With aiming of no-left behind in housing-reconstruction and community resilience of the most-vulnerable households, an upcoming project namely "Kavre Reconstruction and Resilience Project -KRRP" in the partnership of CRS Nepal will be implemented in 3 palikas - Panauti, Roshi and Temal of Kavre district. This project mainly focuses on providing support to complete permanent housing re/construction for the most needy vulnerable households and re/construction of drinking water supply schemes. • B.E. in Civil Engineering
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in the similar position and in reconstruction projects particularly private housing construction, community drinking water supply schemes and other community infrastructure re/construction projects

Professional skills required:

• Technical knowledge and skills on reconstruction project management and WASH schemes
• Technical knowledge and skills on private housing re/construction, retrofitting
• In-depth knowledge on NRA norms, national building code and criteria for earthquake resilient housing construction
• Reconstruction project management
• GESI and conflict sensitive and responsive

Other Specializations:

• AutoCAD and other relevant software
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office package and other computer skills
• Excellent inter-personal, networking, communication, and leadership skills
• Ability to motivate people, convince stakeholders and effective managerial skills

Job Description

Overall Responsibilities:

• Provide overall leadership and guidance to the housing construction in the field (assigned Palika), WASH schemes and other community infrastructure development
• Survey, Design, Estimates, DPR preparation and other necessary technical works.
• Major Roles and Responsibilities
• Lead/involve in feasibility survey, detail design, cost estimation, detailed drawings and other relevant technical works for private housing re/construction and WASH schemes
• Drafting DPRs of the WASH schemes, DIPs of field level construction activities and other relevant documents
• Conduct need assessment and resource/budget estimation for top-up support in private housing construction for target households
• Ensure quality, conduct field monitoring and technical verification of the technical works and construction works
• Mentor, coach, monitor and supervise the Sub-Engineers, Sub-Overseers and Craft-men
• Coordination within the project team within a Palika team, inter-palika team
• Coordinate with Social Mobilizers, field teams of SJASK's other projects and other NGOs, and local level stakeholders
• Support to Project Coordinator and Technical Lead in project planning, target setting, implementation and reporting of the project particularly technical aspects
• Conduct capacity building trainings for Sub-Engineers, Sub-Overseers and Craft-men, masons and Community WASH User Groups
• Ensure effective mobilization of Sub-Engineers, Sub-Overseers, Craft-men and Masons at field level.
