Chief Executive Officer

Background 

Sahayatri Consults (incorporated in 2020) is a development consulting company that builds on a pool of experts in livestock, agriculture, community development, project management, access to finance and other social sector with decades of experience from across the globe and proven models of development in Nepal and abroad.

Sahayatri Consults envisions to   contribute to poverty eradication and economic empowerment by providing technical service to development projects to make them efficient, result oriented, and ultimately benefiting the poorest segment of the community, particularly the smallholder farmers.  

Sahayatri Consults hosts a set of proven methodologies and tools of development such as: Values Based Holistic Community Development (VBHCD), pro-poor wealth creating value chain, markets systems development, Public Private Producer Partnership (4P) model, Integrated Animal Management Training, Enterprise Development Facilitation, Cooperative Capacity Development (Co-CAT) tool, among others. 

With this background Sahayatri Consult is seeking a dynamic person with a proven track record as a Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

FUNCTION

The CEO will provide overall business leadership to the company. The CEO will develop the company as a ‘lean’ start-up with a robust support system from national and international experts to ensure a steep growth curve for the business. Following is a non-exhaustive list of responsibilities of the CEO: 

Governance and Financial Leadership

  • Support the Board for governance function, and be fully compliant with the law of land, and relationship agreement with Heifer International.
  • Lead the preparation of annual budgets and plans of the company and secure approval from the Board. Implement, monitor, and evaluate plans. Conduct timely audits and report to related authorities.
  • Work with the company’s board of directors and develop company’s operational and administrative policy.
  • Ensure that a robust financial management system is in place

Business Leadership

  • Identify and conduct scoping study of needs of potential clients (Market Study)
  • Create a profile of existing knowledge products/ services and develop new knowledge products/services, based on market demand.
  • Create a pricing strategy for each product/service as per the need of different clients. 
  • Market the product to clients and win contracts
  • Manage the delivery of products to clients and earn generous profit margin
  • Invest profit in innovation/scaling up of Heifer International’s work in Nepal
  • Stay updated with the current market trend in development sector through research, networking, and interaction with clients and customizing the knowledge products/services as per the market need/demand.

Other:

  • Ensure timely reporting to the Board and other stakeholders 
  • Lead recruitment of all the technical, administrative and management human resources 
  • Actively mentor and coach human resource to excel personally and professionally.

Requirements and Preferred Qualifications:

Education and/ or Experience:

  1. Master’s degree in business, marketing, economics, development studies, or related social science. 
  2. 5+ years of experience in development consulting and service marketing and/or Candidates with prior entrepreneurial experience
  3. Candidate should be willing to lead the company independently and drive the success of the company. 

Most Critical Proficiencies:

  • Excellent marketing and networking skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills 
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • Advanced English communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent organizational skills including strong attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, and power point.
  • Ability to initiate and cultivate relationships with government entities and potential donor partners.
