Conduction of training on Humanitarian Response Management Training (HRMT)

1.  Background 

AWO International was founded in 1998 as a professional association for development cooperation and humanitarian action within the framework of the German welfare organization “Arbeiterwohlfahrt” (AWO). AWO International draws on the expertise and vast experience of AWO in Germany. In the past 100 years, AWO has been an integral part of the German welfare state. In close cooperation with national non-governmental organizations, AWO International is working to ensure that disadvantaged people can sustainably improve their living conditions. In the event of disasters and crises, AWO International is engaged in humanitarian relief and reconstruction. International projects of AWO International are implemented in the fields of safe migration and counter-trafficking, food and nutrition, resilience, and DRR such as emergency relief and recovery.

AWO International is working in Nepal since 2009 with its program mainly focused on safe migration, anti-human trafficking, and disaster risk reduction by targeting vulnerable population groups and communities. In the past years, AWO International provided humanitarian support to the survivors of mega-disasters in South Asia such as the Gorkha Earthquake in Nepal in 2015, the Rohingya Refugees Crisis in Bangladesh in 2017-18, to climatic disasters such as floods and cyclones in South Asia such as Cyclone Amphan in Bangladesh and India in 2020 and the global COVID-19 pandemic as well in Nepal, India, and Bangladesh in 2020. 

At present, AWO International is implementing various projects through local partners in different geographical locations in Nepal among other the project “Building Resilience of Communities through Economic Development and Capacity Development”. This project aims to capacitate the staff of AWO Int. and partners incl. project field staff on disaster risk reduction and management. Based on the capacity assessment, it is planned to organize a 3-days Humanitarian Response Management Training (HRMT) to enhance the capacity of project staff for better performance in emergency response by addressing the real needs of affected people and 2-days Supply Chain Management Training.

Approximately 20 Emergency Response Team members/project staff/board members will participate in the residential training from Nepal and Bangladesh. The tentative training date will be conducted from 30 May – 3 June, 2022 in Kathmandu.

The training should cover the humanitarian project cycle, steps of humanitarian response and disaster preparedness and management (preparedness to response, search and rescue, relief, and recovery work, basic knowledge and practices on disaster preparedness and management, accountability and transparency tools (Sphere/CHS/public auditing, social auditing, etc.,)knowledge and practices on assessment tools (Initial Rapid Assessment-IRA, Need Assessment, Multi-Sector Initial Rapid Assessment-MIRA), knowledge and practices on monitoring tools (PDM) and data collection tools (e.g. Kobo toolbox), basic knowledge on Cash and Voucher Assistance (CVA) programming, and procurement of materials, service, and cash transfer and logistic including fleet and warehouse management in an emergency in the context of South Asia. Interested private firms, individuals, who meet the above requirements should apply by submitting their Expression of Interest (EoI) including justification based on the technical criteria (not more than 10 pages), financial proposal, legal documents, and updated CV of training facilitators to the Procurement Department of AWO International (mail@awo-southasia.org) with the subject line "Application for Training on HRMT”. 

The closing date for the application is Sunday, 22 May 2022. The selected applicant will be invited to the final discussion and contract signing.
