Business Development Officer (Consultant)- Strengthening Dairy Cooperatives

Heifer Project international Nepal (HPIN) is a non-profit, humanitarian organization dedicated to ending hunger and poverty and caring for earth by providing livestock, education, and other resources to help poor families become self-reliant. HPIN invites application from eligible Nepali citizens for the following position:

Type of Contract: Consultant Full Time

Station: Butwal and Janakpur Cluster

Major Roles and Responsibility

The dairy sector is one of the most important sub-sectors of the Nepalese livestock sector. One of the major challenges of the dairy sector is a milking cycle (Flush and lean season) due to which farmers and co-operative feel market uncertainty and risk. Additionally, they haven’t been able to get a fair price for their product. With this background, we are looking for a highly qualified individual to strengthen dairy’s cooperative of provinces 1, 2, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini and Karnali.

The Officer/consultant will be responsible for identifying the value chain actors of dairy sector, networking, and co-ordination with private sectors, developing the business model canvas/business plan of co-operative, product diversification of dairy co-operatives, obtaining the DFTQC, and marketing and branding of dairy products.

Educational Qualifications and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in agriculture economics, BBA, or any related field with a minimum of 2 years of experience having a proven track record working with dairy co-operative of Province 1, 2, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini and Karnali.
