Rangjung Yeshe Institute (RYI) is an institution of higher learning in Boudhanath for those wishing to deepen their understanding of Buddhist philosophy and practice. RYI has been conducting seminars and study programs for more than 25 years. Since 2001, the Institute has worked in close partnership with Kathmandu University to manage the Kathmandu University Centre for Buddhist Studies at RYI which offers undergraduate and post-graduate degree courses in Buddhist Studies and related topics.

Position Description:
The main responsibility of an Assistant Tibetan Language Instructor: Dharma (ALI) is to help students to learn the spoken Tibetan language. The ALI guides the student in using the structures of the language as presented to the students in their master grammar class, and in using the Dharma language heard during their classes with the monastic Lopons and Khenpos. Additionally, the ALI should ensure that the student is speaking more than the ALI themselves. Responsibilities include:
- Engaging the student in Tibetan conversation on ordinary and Dharma topics.
- Being familiar with the Tibetan grammar, ordinary vocabulary, and Dharma vocabulary.
- Participating in teacher trainings as needed.
- Conducting oneself in a professional manner, including wearing clothing appropriate for a monastic setting, respecting the monks when one encounters them, and speaking respectfully to the students.
