Vacancy Announcement for ASSISTANT PROJECT COORDINATOR of Farming Activities
 
Nepal Public Health Foundation (NPHF) is going to implement a three year project “Farming, Health and Environment Project (FHEP)†in collaboration with the Danish NGO DIALOGOS through funding from Danish Civil Society in Development (CISU).  For this project, NPHF is seeking a highly qualified and dynamic Nepali citizen for the following positions to start as soon as possible:

ASSISTANT PROJECT COORDINATOR OF FARMING (APC-F) – Chitwan Based

The Assistant Project Coordinator of Farming Activities will have the overall responsibility for farming related project activities. S/he will lead a baseline and follow up questionnaire survey among farmers about their use of pesticides, knowledge and practice in pesticide handling. S/he will involve in conducting small on farm pest management activities, gather, develop and produce training materials about Integrated Pest Management (IPM) with the point of departure in existing materials. S/he will provide theoretical and practical courses to farmers on IPM, involve in promoting safe and efficient with reduced dose application of the most harmless pesticides, biopesticides, use of Personal Protective Equipments (PPE) and safe storage of pesticides. S/he will also be responsible for providing theoretical and practical courses on knowledge sharing, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), hygiene when handling pesticides and safe storage and delivery for pesticide dealers. The APC-F will conduct activities in consultation of IPM expert in the national level and support the Field Coordinator on an ad hoc basis. 

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Master of Science in Agriculture with specialization in Plant Protection
  • Profound knowledge of IPM and Pesticides use among farmers in Nepal
  • Community-based training experiences to farmers
  • Ability to take responsibility and function independently
  • Knowledge of database/spreadsheet/word/power point software
  • Ability to convince farmers about the economic benefit of IPM 
  • Motor cycle driving will be an added advantage
