Rangjung Yeshe Institute (RYI) is an institution of higher learning in Boudhanath for those wishing to deepen their understanding of Buddhist philosophy and practice. RYI has been conducting seminars and study programs for more than 25 years. Since 2001, the Institute has worked in close partnership with Kathmandu University to manage the Kathmandu University Centre for Buddhist Studies at RYI which offers undergraduate and post-graduate degree courses in Buddhist Studies and related topics.
Position: Administration Officer (Buddhist Thought and Chinese-Tibetan Language Program)
Language Required: Chinese and English
Duration: 1 year (with possibility of extension)
Duty Station: Boudhanath, Kathmandu
Reports to: Director of Administration
Position Description: Based at the RYI Administration department which handles student registration, the Administration Officer is responsible for Buddhist Thought and Chinese-Tibetan Language Program student admissions. The Administrative Officer provides information to prospective Chinese speaking students and applicants, about the offered program, admission procedure, eligibility criteria and cost. He/she develops and maintains student records, registration process, program schedule & calendar, statistics report on enrolment, and completion. The Administrative Officer works closely with the Director of Administration and the Chinese Program Manager with main focus being on the effective and systematic, customer-oriented program admission for those Chinese speaking students. Additionally, the Buddhist Thought and Tibetan Language Program Administrative Officer will take on various administrative tasks at RYI’s Financial Aid Committee.
The main areas of responsibility entails:
• Chinese medium Communication
• Development of Chinese medium administration systems
• Student Administration
• Office Administration
• RYI Financial Aid Committee Assistant
• Member of the Administration team
• Other activities as requested by the line manager
Qualified candidates will require fluency in English and Chinese (HSK Level 5 or equivalent), minimum education of Bachelor degree or equivalent but MA/MSc is an advantage, 5+ years of experience in office administration and excellent computer skills including a high degree of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Tibetan language is desirable.
