Details / requirements:

Chemonics International, an implementing partner of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), seeks a Technical Documenter Consultant for the USAID Global Health Supply Chain (GHSC) - Procurement and Supply Management (PSM) project in Nepal. GHSC-PSM will serve as the primary vehicle through which USAID will procure and furnish health commodities, provide technical assistance to improve Nepal’s management of the supply chain, and collaborate with key international and local stakeholders to support U.S. government-funded public health initiatives in Nepal. 

The Technical Documenter will work with Logistics Management Division (LMD) to finalize requirements of eLMIS based on the scope of eLMIS. The applicant will be responsible for creating technical documents and manuals, explain complex information in a clear and concise manner and working with LMD and other stakeholder to ensure accuracy of eLMIS descriptions.This position will be based at Kathmandu initially for 6 months of time from the joining date with possibility to extend. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide support and assistance with documentation for existing PROCESS and new eLMIS such as SRS, Design documents, user guides, training manuals, job-aids, reports, training videos, SOPs etc.
  • Provide support and assistance with assessment of documentation needs for training planning, organization and implementation in coordination with eLMIS vendor and functional area subject matter experts.
  • Write curriculum for courses developed by the program and identify subject matter experts who can help in contributing, editing, reviewing the contents to write.
  • Assist with writing technical content using Microsoft Word or similar word processing tool. Ensure that appropriate templates, narrative style, and branding are being applied to the written document.
  • Work with other colleagues for publication and dissemination of the technical content.
  • Maintain documentation to keep them current and proactively work with eLMISvendor and trainers and developers to ensure that documentation is kept up to date.
  • Assist in conducting training/events to all relevant government staff at all levels. 
  • Ability to translate necessary documents in Nepali language or Nepali to English
  • Perform any other related tasks as required

Qualifications: 

  • Minimum eight to twelve years of relevant work experience managing large-scale MIS in Nepal or in developing countries, preferably in public health context. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in an information technology or relevant field required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Proven track record in technical document writing, capacity building, mentoring and coaching
  • Ability to work with government entities, cooperating partners and vendors andexperience working with USAID or other donors is a plus.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communications skills
  • Demonstrated  versatility, team work and integrity.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and Nepali required. The Technical Documenter consultant is required to be a resident of Nepal or legally having authorization to work in Nepal
