TECHNICAL ASSISTANT

Urban Environment Management Society (UEMS) is a non-profit making civil society organization established in 2002. UEMS support urban population, especially poor and socially marginalized through Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH), Disaster Risk Reduction & Climate Change Adaptation, Solid Waste Management, Food Security & Sustainable Livelihood and Alternative Energy Projects. UEMS invites application from eligible candidates for the implementation of WASH Projects in Lahan municipality of Siraha

POSITION TITLE: TECHNICAL ASSISTANT

REQUIRED NO. OF STAFF: ONE

Duration: One year with possible extension

Duty Station: One position based at Lahan Municipality of Siraha district

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Support community groups for the constructions of water and sanitation facilities like HHs latrines, school latrines, water points, ferro cement tanks through necessary supervisions
• Support to prepare different designs and estimates of water and sanitation facilities
• Carry out community mobilization work in the construction of water and sanitation facilities
• Provide and facilitate meetings and trainings to community groups to capacity them for the construction of water and sanitation facilities
• Maintain all the documents of community meetings, attendances, materials mobilization etc.
• Support to organize different WASH campaigns, events and open defecation free (ODF) campaigns at community and municipal level
• Closely coordinate and maintain good linkages with community groups like user’s committee, women’s groups, child clubs etc.
• Support to develop community level action plan

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCES:

• Diploma in civil engineering with 1 years experience in social mobilization and WASH sector or 18 months CTEVT sub overseer course in civil engineering with 2 years experience in social mobilization and WASH sector
• Good experience on community group formation, volunteers formation and mobilization, community empowerment and facilitate trainings and meetings
• Sound knowledge on design and estimate of water and sanitation facilities
• Good computer skills especially on Word, Excel etc
• Familiar with child right and child protection issues & policy
• Fluency in written and verbal communication in Nepali (Candidates able to communicate in Maithali is preferred for Lahan based position)
