Tuki Association Sunkoshi is a member-based non-governmental, non-profit social development organization registered in the District Administration Office of Sindhupalchok and the Government of Nepal in 1992, and is affiliated with the Social Welfare Council (SWC).

Details / requirements:

Tuki Association Sunkoshi is a non-governmental organization (NGO) working rigorously with different development partners in Sindhupalchok district. It has been working in the district since 25 years in the field of Education, Health & nutrition, protection, DRR, Reconstruction, Livelihood, SHUSASAN, protection and Infrastructure Development in collaboration with different partner organizations.

It has been implementing DRR,Livelihood and Education programs coordinating and co- partnering with HELP – HilfeZurSelbsthilfee.V..Now Tuki is implementing WASH program under “Enhancing the resilience of earthquake affected population of Thulosirubari VDC, SindhupalchowkDistrict,through assistance in Reconstruction, WASH and Livelihood recovery” project.  At present, this project needs qualified and experienced Nepali Citizen for the following position:

Position: Team Leader

Required number: One

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION

  • Bachelor’s Degree in water related field, Civil Engineering background preferred
  • Minimum 2 years work experience in the water sector of which 1 years in humanitarian/development agencies
  • Should be a team player and have good managing skills.
  • Good knowledge on hydraulic designs,cost estimate, bill of quantity and tender process
  • Experience in supervising construction and infrastructure works
  • Good ability in civil engineering designs and drawings
  • Knowledge of physical, chemical and microbiological testing of water will also be an asset
  • Flexibility, resourcefulness and good communication skills
  • Intermediate computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel in particular). Good skill on technical drawing software (AutoCAD)
  • Ability to facilitate trainings and workshops for technical staff, artisan and community members
  • Willing to work in humanitarian program and to travel to remote & difficult areas.

JOB PURPOSE: 

  • Team Leader’s job purpose in the targeted project locations is for overall management, coordination and to provide technical input in implementation of WASH project.

REPORTING LINES:

 

  • Post holder reports to:WASH Coordinator of Help e V Nepal and Executive Director of Tuki Association Sunkoshi
  • Key responsibilities in Program Implementation
  • Lead the team to efficiently implement the WASH programme through proper planning, management, supervision and support
  • Monitor and supervise the implementation of the planned interventions by the WASH team, involving communities and local authorities in the activities as appropriate.
  • Maintain regular communication with HELP e.V and ensure that information areprovided to the donor agency as per request
  • Flow  relevant information to the donor agency and project teams as required and appropriateness
  • Regularly coordinate with with Help e.V. staff, co-staffs and government authorities such as Ward municipality, municipality, WSSDO, DCC and relevant departments.
  • Participate in relevant meetings with the local and district authorities, cluster meetings or other relevant technical groups at field level
  • Work with SMCs, WSUCs, government stakeholders and other related stakeholders.
  • Conduct need assessments, detailed technical surveys, prepare design and estimates, BoQs
  • Prepare detailed design and estimates of Gravity flow and Lifting systems
  • Prepare technical drawings, Bill of Quantities, cost estimates, technical specifications for CGD friendly school toilets and Public latrines
  • Conduct Pre/Post construction trainings, VMW trainings
  • Know perfectly, respect and ensure strict compliance with the National Building Code and earthquake resistant techniques
  • Ensure construction activities are ongoing smoothly and as per plan and standards
  • Ensure hygiene promotional activities, KAP surveys, HH surveys are carried out to improve key hygiene behaviors
  • Systematically assess the quality of work and its impact, whether completed or not, and if necessary request donor agency to make changes to ensure that quality standards (national,Tuki, HELP and Sphere in humanitarian contexts) are met.
  • Ensure project documentation of each activities
  • Ensure key commitments with communities are achievable and respected

 

Position: WASH Officer

Required number: One

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION

  • Bachelor’s Degree in health related discipline, public health preferred
  • Minimum 2 years work experience in the WASH promotion, work experience of 3 years preferred with one year experience in development projects.
  • Should have good interpersonal skills
  • Good knowledge on PRA tools,conducting KAP surveys, HH surveys
  • Experience in working with WSUCs, schools and SMCs
  • Knowledge of physical, chemical and microbiological testing of water will also be an asset
  • Flexibility, resourcefulness and good communication skills
  • Good computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Publisher). 
  • Having good ability to facilitate trainings and workshops for staffs, artisan and community members
  • Willing to work in humanitarian program and to travel to remote & difficult areas

JOB PURPOSE: 

WASH officer’s job purpose in the targeted project locations is to conduct hygiene related activities in communities and schools through community facilitators. S/he will manage, organize, conduct, facilitate and will lead trainings, meetings and events of WASH.

REPORTING LINES:

  • Post holder reports to:Team Leader of Tuki Association Sunkoshi/Help e. V project.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Key responsibilities in Program Implementation
  • Plan, implement and follow-up of hygiene promotional activities in communities and schools
  • Conduct need assessments and interviews 
  • Ensure and prepare reports of assessments, KAP surveys and HH surveys
  • Consolidation of data on beneficiaries
  • Facilitate in formation of different groups like WSUCs, child club, women’s group etc. 
  • Train and mobilize IGG groups, child clubs, women’s group, health workers, teachers and students for hygiene promotional activities.
  • Conduct FGDs
  • Ensure community mobilization in all field related to water, sanitation and hygiene
  • Support project staffs to organize and conduct meetings, mass meetings etc.
  • Coordinate with related stakeholders for local level hygiene activities
  • Prepare reports, case studies, photo stories etc.
  • Monitor and supervise Community facilitators to conduct hygiene activities, meetings and events.
  • Provide information and reportsto the donor agency as per request
  • Ensure flow of  relevant information to the donor agency and project teams as required and appropriateness
  • Work with SMCs, WSUCs, government stakeholders and other related stakeholders.
  • Regularly coordinate with project staffs, Help e.V. staffs and government authorities such as Ward municipality, municipality, WSSDO, DCC and relevant departments.

  • Ensure environment protection during implementation and development of Hygiene promotion activities, and ensure that activities take into account the needs of specific groups and individuals, especially children, the elderly and disabled
  • Ensure child protection

Position: WASH Sub Engineer /Overseer

Required number: Few 

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION

  • Minimum Sub-overseer. Diploma in Civil Engineering is preferred 
  • Minimum 2 years work experience in the water sector of which 1 years in Community WASH
  • Proven technical and supervision of water supply and school WASH facilities construction
  • Should be able to adapt with the community and mobilize them
  • Good knowledge on Water supply construction works. Experience in construction of Ferro cement tank will be an asset
  • Experience in supervising construction and infrastructure works
  • Good ability to read designs and drawings
  • Knowledge of physical, chemical and microbiological testing of water will also be an asset
  • Flexibility, resourcefulness and good communication skills
  • Computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel in particular). Skill on technical drawing software (AutoCAD) will be an asset
  • Ability to facilitate trainings and workshops for technical staff, artisan and community members
  • Willing to work in humanitarian programmes and to travel to remote & difficult areas
  • Should understand English

JOB PURPOSE: 

  • WASH Overseers/Sub Engineers job purpose in the targeted project locations is implementation and supervision of WASH construction works.

REPORTING LINES:

  • Post holder reports to:Team Leader

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES IN PROGRAM IMPLEMENTATION

  • Conduct need assessments, detailed technical surveys, and support in preparing design, estimates and BoQs
  • Facilitate in formation of UCs
  • Conduct regular meetings, prepare minutes
  • Conduct Pre/Post construction trainings, VMW trainings and other WASH related trainings
  • Conduct regular WQT tests
  • Ensure that documentation of materials and financial transaction are maintained by UCs.
  • Supervise and ensure construction works of Gravity flow system, Lift systems, Public latrines, school WASH construction are ongoing as per design and standards
  • Maintain regular communication with Team Leader and ensure that information areprovided to the donor agency as per request
  • Flow  relevant information to the project teams as required and appropriateness
  • Regularly coordinate with project staffs
  • Work with SMCs, WSUCs and other related stakeholders.
  • Know, respect and ensure compliance with the National Building Code and earthquake resistant techniques
