Position Title: Senior ITC Assistant and WRAPS Administrator

Position Required:

Duty Station: Kathmandu, Nepal

Classification: General Service Staff, Grade 7

Type of Appointment: Special Short Term 9 months with possibility of extension

Context: 

Under the Technical Supervision of the Project Officer, Data Integrity for The Resettlement Support Center, South Asia (RSC SA), and the Administrative Supervision of the Resources Management Officer in Nepal, the incumbent will be responsible for the maintenance, support and implementation of the IT infrastructure in IOM Kathmandu and WRAPS System. In particular, he/she will:

Core Functions / Responsibilities: 

  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of the ICT Assistants, ensuring that all requests are addressed timely and accurately, with an efficient allocation of resources.
  • In coordination with the Project Officer serves as RSC SA WRAPS Administrator.
  • Ensure the required performance and stability of network services and servers by minimizing downtime or service interruptions.
  • Ensure the implementation of IOM ICT Standards, policies and guidelines, in particular with regards to network systems, IT equipment, software licensing, IT security, telecommunication, information security, ICT procurement, IOM in-house applications, and email.
  • Design, develop, document and maintain applications using .Net and MS Access.
  • Identify tasks within the Office that can be automated.
  • Maintain applications documentation to track changes and provide help features.
  • Provide onsite end-user support to IOM staff.
  • Liaise with Procurement unit and suppliers for IT equipment specifications during purchase and equipment servicing. 
  • Liaise with the Project Officer, Data Integrity and Project Managers for budgeting.
  • Provide maintenance and technical support for existing applications and databases
  • Monitors and troubleshoot availability of mission-critical applications such as WRAPS, MiMOSA, PRISM, iGATOR, UK-TB, eMedical, TELERAD, etc. ensuring effective liaison with technical counterparts for the proper functioning and availability of those system.
  • Develop and Implement training to IT Assistants and end users to ensure productive use of existing and new applications and systems. 
  • Support in the management of an overall tracking system for the ICT Equipment Inventory.
  • Support in the configuration of the Motorola VHF and Codan HF network and administer functionality of CCTV Security system.
  • Regularly report needs and progress on ICT issues in his/her area of responsibility.
  • Any other relevant duties as may be assigned.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited academic institution in computer science, electrical engineering or a combination of relevant education with five years’ work experience on related field; Or
  • Completed High School Degree with seven years’ work experience in related field;

Experience 

  • Correctly applies knowledge of specialized IT disciplines;
  • A minimum of 4 year of experience in networking environment (VPN, VoIP, LAN/WAN) and Motorola VHF and Codan HF network;
  • Enterprise installation and administering experience with Windows Server 2008 R2 , MS Office, Antivirus, Backup software  and other IT utilities;
  • Enterprise installation and administering experience with HP and Cisco equipment. 
  • Strong knowledge of WRAPS;
  • Experience in programming and applications such as .NET and SQL;

Languages

Fluency in English, Nepali is required.
