Cardno Emerging Markets USA, Ltd. (Cardno) is seeking a Quality Improvement Advisor candidate for an anticipated USAID-funded Health Systems Strengthening Project in Nepal. This project aims to increase access to and utilization of equitable health services, improve quality of health services, and improve health system governance. The project will focus on improving health outcomes, particularly for the most marginalized and disadvantaged groups, by increasing access and utilization of equitable, accountable and quality maternal, child and reproductive health services, with specific focus on newborn care.

Duties: 

The Quality Improvement Advisor will be responsible for strengthening health facilities' ability to deliver high quality services. The Quality Improvement Advisor will focus on 1) addressing challenges with quality assurance, licensing, and accreditation; and 2) identifying gaps in quality by relying on developing standards from existing best practices in all sectors and measuring progress against those standards. S/he will support the Chief of Party by playing a lead role in providing strategic vision and technical expertise in improving quality of health services, working primarily at the district level while potentially developing partnerships with tertiary institutes, such as private and university hospitals.

Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in public health, medicine, social development or relevant field
  • 10+ years of experience providing technical assistance on donor funded projects of similar size and complexity, preferably in Nepal and/or South Asia region
  • Experience in primary care service delivery, including maternal, child and reproductive health services, and newborn care.
  • Experience instituting and evaluating quality improvement (QI) processes in health facilities
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and supervisory skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; professional Fluency in English
  • Nepali nationals are strongly encouraged to apply
