Integrated Tadi Development Society Nepal (ITDSN) is a non-profit NGO established in 2060 B.S. with its office in Nuwakot District. ITDSN mainly intends to work for low income family, women, minority, disadvantaged group and youths for their welfare and capacity development through different awareness raising, capacity development activities. The main goal of ITDS Nepal is to establish a progressive society.

After an earthquake on 25 April 2015, ITDS Nepal has been working in the recovery phase with ACF International as an implementing partner for the Food Security and Livelihood (FSL) and Mental Health and Care Practices (MHCP) Project since December 2015. The programs activities are in the three most remote VDC's of the Nuwakot District (i.e. Salme, Barsunchet and Kimtang). For the smooth operation of the program, 2 PSW's are required for Salme VDC.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Under Nutrition Security Recovery through Multi-sector Interventions (NSR-MI) in Nuwakot and Rasuwa districts, the PSW-MHCP requires to provide psychosocial support to families within the camps and in the most remote community of the district. S/he will be reporting to Project Coordinator and will support for the smooth operation of the activities at the field level.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Mission 1: Implementation and Planning

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for supporting in activities planning and MHCP activity implementation in selected sites.
  • Conduct FGD's to identify and select the families that need psychosocial support.
  • Conduct regular home visit with the selected families (identification of needs, counselling, information and referral)
  • Refer families to the adequate services and follow up the referral
  • Identification and referral of the hard cases to the senior psychologists from CMC
  • Facilitate group discussions with Men/boys, Women/girls, PLW, children, differently abled and older aged people.
  • Conduct School orientation program, children activities and parent-child activities
  • Refer SAM cases to OTC (Outpatient Therapeutic Centre) and MAM cases in TSFP (Targeted supplementary Feeding program)
  • Identify and meet new service providers and do follow up visits with known service providers in coordination with the Project Coordinator and/or the ACF Monitoring Officer.
  • Support in targeting activities and ensure that overlap of beneficiaries with other actors is avoided.
  • Participate in various team meeting, monitoring sessions and training refreshers

Mission 2: Monitoring and Documentation function

Responsibilities:

  • Support in compilation of project information and sharing regular reports and updates to the Project Coordinator.
  • Update family files on a daily basis and all other records as per need
  • Prepare case studies with the support of the ACF Monitoring Officer
  • Provide information on the activities, reporting according to the tools as requested by the ACF MO and PC for the preparation of the reports
  • Report of the SAM and MAM cases seen in the field to the ACF nutrition department

Mission 3: Network and Other functions

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with the PC and/or the ACF MO to obtain information on existing services
  • Coordinate with PC and/or the ACF MO to communicate about new services identified in the areas or to facilitate more formal referrals
  • Coordinate with the other departments of ACF
  • Participate in the programs and represent the organization and activities at VDC level.
  • Think and create innovative ideas for bright future of the organization. 

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIRED SKILLS:

Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Health or Education with relevant working experience in health, education and/or medical or social certificate.

Required Skills:

  • Experience working in rural poor areas with deprived population and/or dysfunctional families
  • Experience in community work         
  • Strong interest/motivation to work in rural poor areas
  • Strong interest  for social work and field work with communities
  • Good social abilities, good capacity to communicate and adapt well in a team
  • Sense of confidentiality
  • Willingness to learn new skills and new approach

Desired Skills:

  • Good written and spoken English
  • Experience and/or qualification in psychosocial counselling
  • Experience of working with children and Pregnant and Lactating Women
