People in Need (PIN) is an international non – governmental organization with headquarters in Prague, the Czech Republic. In its 25 years of history, PIN was working in over 40 countries in relief, development and human rights and democracy support projects. People in Need is a member of the Alliance 2015 – European NGO Network. For more information visit www.peopleinneed.cz. After the earthquake in Nepal in April 2015, PIN joined the emergency response to support the most affected communities in Nepal.

Durable Solutions II is the consortium project lead by PIN with its partner Community Self – Reliance Centre (CSRC) designed to facilitate Nepal Reinstruction Authority (NRA) to implement the policy and guidelines developed for the earthquake affected populations of and landless populations of 31 districts of Nepal.

People In Need is currently seeking a dynamic, energetic and career-oriented field-based candidate for the position of Project Officer for its ongoing projects in Earthquake affected districts under the program area of Durable Solutions II. Details of the responsibilities, essential skills and qualifications for the position are presented below.

Your main responsibilities:

  • Support Nepal Reconstruction Authority in the relocation process of Geo-hazard Person, Potential Displaced Person and Landless people.
  • Assist in project development strategies, activities, policies, related to durable solutions of the displaced household.
  • Identify vulnerable individuals, communities and households, conduct protection assessments and data collection.
  • Conduct, monitor and support protection program implementation of Durable Solutions in displacement sites in earthquake-affected areas in close coordination with partner organization.
  • Mobilize or facilitate formation of safety committees in displacement sites.
  • Provide training to formed committees on protection and displacement topics.
  • Support the committee in developing SGBV referral mechanism, committees’ capacity building.
  • Support committee in adequately addressing and mitigating the risks.
  • Support in the implementation of DRR and other livelihood activities required by the project.
  • Organize field visits to project districts and fields sites as per the requirement of the project.
  • Spend long periods (several weeks) in rural field sites, which may involve extensive walking.
  • Complete any other tasks as required for effective project implementation.

Your profile:

  • Bachelors degree, or secondary education with at least 2 years of relevant work experience
  • Work experience in rural and remote areas
  • Work experience in SGBV prevention / response, child protection, or women empowerment
  • Work experience in displacement sites (IDP camps), land rights and advocacy
  • Outstanding communication skills
  • Empathy and stress resilience
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
  • Sound knowledge of MS Word, MS Excel, PowerPoint and other office tools
  • Experience with data collection preferred
  • Additional language proficiency (e.g. Tamang) preferred
