Lumanti Support Group for Shelter

Lumanti Support Group for Shelter is a non-government organisation dedicated to the alleviation of urban poverty in Nepal through the improvement of shelter conditions. At Lumanti, shelter means the whole living environment, therefore, Lumanti's activities are wide-ranging. They include shelter upgrades, micro-finance, education and children's programmes, good governance, gender equity and advocacy. Lumanti means "memory" in the Newari language. The organization was established in 1993 in the memory of Ramesh Manandhar who died in a plane crash in 1992. Ramesh was a driving force behind moves in the early 1990's to raise awareness about urban poverty and shelter conditions.

BACKGROUND

Lumanti Support Group for Shelter a non-government organization actively contributing to the improvement of the living conditions of low income people in Nepal through improved shelter is currently seeking applications from qualified Nepalese citizens for the post of Project Officer.

Job purpose: To support the project through regular coordination with major stakeholders including government for the better implementation of result oriented project activities in designated location of Rasuwa.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Project Officers are required have experience on social mobilization and DRR.
  • Preparation, follow up, monitoring, invoicing review and reporting of the relevant projects, including evaluation of reports and overall work plans.
  • Contribute to the preparation of workshops, seminars, conferences and other public events as when necessary. 
  • Mobilization of the target communities and local organization for participation in assessment, planning, implementation and monitoring of project interventions.
  • Regular follow upand updating of project activities with a comprehensive plan of action, checklist and report to Project Coordinator.
  • Provide necessary technical support, coaching and feedback to the project team for smooth implementation of program activities.
  • Support to prepare periodic report as required by the project and prepare case studies from project communities.
  • Hold monthly meetings with internal staffs including social mobilizers and collect reports from them.
  • Maintain close coordination and support to the concerned local stakeholders including government institutions, and other CBOs. 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCES:

  • Bachelors degree with at least 2 years of relevant work experience
  • Work experience in rural and remote areas are added advantage
  • Experience working in SGBV prevention / response, child protection, or women empowerment
  • Experience with data collection preferred
  • Sound knowledge of MS Office package
  • Empathy and stress resilience
  • Outstanding communication skills
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
