The Organisation is a non-profit making, non-political, non-sectarian and Non-Government Organisation (NGO). It has been working in Nepal since 2005 and has a Project Agreement with the Social Welfare Council (SWC). The Organisation was set up in response to the growing number of children in Nepal whom were displaced and separated from their families by trafficking, poverty and the internal conflict in the country. It is emphasising their overall development providing them a formal education, physical and psychosocial wellbeing under care of qualified dedicated staff to ensure a child-friendly and loving environment. A strong dedicated team of over 45 people are working together to run the various programmes in different districts of Nepal. Our current programmes are: 5 Residential Child Care Homes, Next Steps Youth & Education Programme, School Improvement Programme, Community Support, Education Sponsorship Programme and Awareness against Child Trafficking.

Vacancy Announcement - Project Manager The SolHimal-Umbrella Organisation Nepal (SHUON) currently provides direct care for 318 children in Swayambhu; implements the Gurje Development Project in Nuwakot district promoting education and health care; provides assistance to over 1,800 disadvantaged people across Nepal; and works with partners to promote reunification and reintegration of children who have been separated from their families. SHUON receives funding from private donors in Europe and North America. Position Summary The Project Manager will provide leadership, ensure quality and oversee SHUON operations including eight childrens’ homes based in Swayambhu and the Gurje Development Project in the town of Gurje, Nuwakot District. Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities Swayambhu Childrens’ Homes  Oversee operations for eight childrens’ homes;  Directly supervise 8 house managers including monitoring performance, conducting annual performance appraisals, and designing/implementing appropriate professional development activities; Gurje Development Project  Oversee operations for the Gurje Development Project in Nuwakot District;  Supervise the Project Coordinator; Both Projects  Prepare annual work plans that detail project tasks, resource requirements and timeline;  Develop and manage the project budget ensuring efficient and timely use of resources;  Prepare monthly financial reports and present to SHUON senior management team and board members;  Prepare quarterly project reports and present to the SHUON senior management team and board members. Other  Represent SHUON at meetings with local government, donors and key stakeholders; Minimum Qualifications and Skills Required: Education and Experience: Bachelor’s Degree with 10+ years of relevant experience or Master’s Degree with 5+ years of relevant experience (working with I/NGO in child protection, education or social welfare sector) Desired Skills and Qualities: Proven ability in project management and leadership; strong capacity for decision making and problem solving; excellent communication skills, fluency in English (written and verbal) essential; computer literate; ability to build a strong rapport with children (6 to 19 yrs) from diverse backgrounds; passionate about helping disadvantaged children CV and Cover Letter should be sent by email to umbrellarecruitment@gmail.com before 21st May, with ‘Project Manager’ as the subject.
