Details / requirements:

Project Background: This project is designed to support the Livelihood recovery of returnees and internally displaced people after earthquake in Nepal.

Poisition: Project Manager

Type of Employment: Contractual (8 Months)

Working Hours: 09:00 AM – 05:00 PM (Monday –Friday)

Salary: As per organization rule

Location: Kathmandu with frequent field visit to designated district of the project

Minimum Qualifications Required

  •  Master’s Degree in Social Science or Humanities with minimum 1 year of experience in relevant field in managerial role preferably in NGO, INGOs or Development Projects .

"OR"

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Science or Humanities with minimum 5 years of experience in relevant field preferably in NGO, INGOs or projects.
  • Must have sound and practical knowledge of Project Management cycle
  • Having Knowledge and Experience in handling Livelihood projects would be added advantage
  • Should be able to conduct need assessment and prepare a detail report on it
  • Should be able to plan, execute ,monitor and control projects
  • Should be Gender sensitive
  • Must have excellent written and oral communication skills in English
  • Should be computer literate with strong computer skills in MS Office and other communications applications
  • Must be open to field visits
  • Must be able to join in short notice

Job Description:

  • Prepare project plan as per requirement
  • Manage project deliverables in budget, on schedule, and within scope by developing and maintaining a detailed project plan
  • Provide monthly progress status reports to supervisors
  • Conduct regular meetings among project team members and implementing partners on work progress and further analysis on needs for change
  • Record and manage project issues and escalate; where necessary
  • Inspect project sites to monitor progress and ensure the activities are aligned with the plan
  • Provide technical advice regarding project implementation
  • Facilitate operations, and maintenance activities at project site
  • Prepare or present progress and completion reports
  • Baseline survey, project reviews and evaluation are carried out according to the schedule
  • Develop, apply and ensure appropriate tools and strategy to monitor the progress, quality and impact of the project targets
  • Provide project stakeholders with comprehensive documents and each stakeholder clarified on their role and responsibilities
  • Review monthly progress and plans of implementing partners
  • Provide necessary support for planning, monitoring and implementations of project activities
  • Manage and lead the project team
  • Lead the recruitment process in the Project team  to manage the project
  • Develop a project brief and disseminate to relevant stakeholders
  • Develop strategic relationship and partnership with key stakeholders at National, Regional and District Level
  • Serve as a resource person for disseminating knowledge and skills to GO/NGO and other institutions
  • Monitor monthly actual expenditures and compare them with the implementation model, budget requirements, review the budget if needed
  • Monthly, quarterly and other program and financial reports prepared and in placed and documented in time aligning with project design and donor requirement
  • Prepare or present progress and completion reports
  • Capture evidences (such as media coverage, visibility materials, and success/change stories) of good practices in regular basis
  • Dissemination of lessons learnt and best practices from major program interventions

  • Should possess strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to present information effectively to the concerned authorities
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-cultural environment and establish harmonious and effective working relationships, both within and outside the organization
  • Should have good convincing skill, good self-awareness and self-regulation
  • Passionate on helping at risk, victimized, poor, disadvantaged and vulnerable people in community
